So, I have a choice of 2 Roamers.
White one which isn't my favourite colour and is a demo with 750kms on it and 11 months of warranty left. $12,000 and change.
Red one (which I really like) with zero K's and full 2 year warranty for $14,490.
Both 2016 models and within 6 production numbers of each other.
This is Aussie dollars in case the American contingent thinks I am crazed.
I am leaning towards the red one, but 2.5 grand isn't to be ignored.
Just concerned that the shorter warranty might come back to haunt me.
Happy for any input.
Thanks, Mick
Ps, just sold my 74 Eldorado, so looking for a new bike.

Sounds like you favor the red. Saving a few dollars is good, but ask yourself if you will have regrets if you compromise on the bike you really want.
That IS a tough choice. What I want vs. $$$. Personally, I would pony up for the red, but I like red.

Mate,
The difference in cost will become meaningless over time. Get the red one.
I have one .
Looks much better than the white one.
-
Your comment of "which I really like" tells you what to do!
-
If you will truly enjoy kicking yourself in the ass for the entire ownership of this bike, buy the cheap one.

I have the yellow Roamer. Sure wish they had red in the states. I would pay $2,500 to get it changed to red, I think. To me, red is perfect, but yellow is not quite right. Of course, everything is affected by the color, including your outlook on life... I vote red.

Get the white one ,save the 2500 for cool accessories, and down the road, when it gets a few chips, have it painted a beautiful red, with some quality automotive urethane. There isnt too much to paint on Guzzi V9 tins.Guzzi paint isnt very good quality anyway from what I have seen, and after its red,you will feel like you got another "new "bike!
Rick.

I'd advise the cheaper white one - you are in Oz, so sooner or later a larger capacity tank will become desirable - the cost saving would fund the research & parts (likely to be tank, fuel pump & fuel lines) - be the first on your block with a long range V9, & paint it any colour you like. There is expertise around - ghezzi in Coopers Plains has V7-ised his Bellagio.
-
Follow your lust.

Love my white Roamer, but to each his own. 750K is nothing in the long run, nor is $2,500. But that money would buy some nifty accessories. (Don't ask me how I know.)

$2500 would buy a heck of a paint job on two fenders and a tank.

Quick update, after riding a Roamer, it didn't really do much for me to be honest. Foot controls too far forward and I found my right heel kept touching the exhaust. It was just like my 74 Eldo in that it clunked into all gears and had a nice whine through the gears. To be honest I didn't find the seat particularly comfortable or the grips . So back to the drawing board and I will probably look for a V7II Special as the ones I have tried seem to fit me better. Thanks for your input and advice.

Good hunting. If you do manage to come down the hill to the Ragged Fringe rally next month, there will be a few V7s you could try out on proper country roads. Coming from an Eldo, you might like to try the Bellagio - keep an eye out, they do come up occasionally.

Aren't all the V9's being offered with the rear sets as a no charge option??? As for the other stuff, the one I rode had a slick shifting transmission. Possibly because new of needs adjusted on the one you rode. IDK. Seat and grips, well............... ..........YMMV

John Henry, I haven't seen a 17 model here. They all seem to be 16s and not one of the 3 dealers I have spoken to knew anything about the footpeg change or indeed the recall on V9 & V7.
The brand new Brisbane dealer, (nice guys by the way) has a good selection of bikes (all 3 of the V9s they have are 16 models), but NO demonstrators yet of any model and are waiting on Piaggio to supply some.
Mick.
PS, they do have 4 x V7IIIs, which I assume are 17 models.

Quick update on this. I bought a 2012 Kawasaki W800 with 11,000ks for $7500. One owner bike, with exhaust modded (basically baffles removed) and Pirelli Sport Demon tyres.
The W800 is great and suits me just fine. I owned a new W650 in 2004 so I knew something about these and was happy to own another one.
I did look at V7II's and nearly bought a low mileage Stone, however, the Kawa won out.
So I am still Guzzi less, but who knows what the future holds???
Mick.

Those are nice looking bikes. I think that as time marches on, these models will be on the list of desirable bikes from the past. :thumb:

IF I wanted one, I'd buy the one that you left behind.

If Kaw had brought the W800 to the States, I'd own one. My experience with my 2000 W650 was super and no drama. Sounded nice, looked vintage, down to the electric start/kick start feature, well-finished. Put 50,000 miles on the little gal. With a Corbin Gunfighter installed, I took this bike on several weekend rides into West Virginia and Virginia.

Here's a Photobucket folder with a few pics of my lovely little W650

If it's anything like the W650 it's a great bike and I know you'll love it. Enjoy!!!

Add a luggage rack and go on a vacation.

I'm kind of in the same boat. After a testride on a V9 bobber I decided I want a Guzzi again (after a 13 year 'dry' period, use to have a LM3). Since winter is coming there is not much sense in buying now, so I can wait for the new (?) 2018 models
The official list price for new Roamer (don't like the fat front tire of the bobber) here is 11k (chf, Swiss francs).
But new, unridden old-stock 2016 can be had for 8k.
Also found a 2016 used one (1000 miles) for 7.5k (so I would save the cost of the 1st service and setup/deliver costs)
I am also hoping however for a V9 Stone for 2018. I like the looks of the Roamer better, but a test sitting on a V7 Stone made it clear the ergonomics of the Stone are better for me. I would not be into a Racer or the Special, as I only want tubeless tires (for fixability by the roadside).
However, with the euro gaining strenght I expect the 2018 models to go up in price, 12k would reflect the new currency rates ...
So.... the old stock new (in beautiful red) Roamer looks pretty good at 8k, a v9 Stone sounds better but I'm not so sure its worth the extra 4k for me... except for when power goes up to 70hp or so, then the choise would be easy.
Thoughts ?

Sounds like the only guarantee if you wait is that the price will go up!

Buy what you like. If you LIKE the looks of the Roamer better, then why not buy it and adjust the ergos? You can change a lot with the seat and bars - even change foot controls a bit if it's important enough. Did you sit on a Roamer with the updated controls (that sit further back)?

and honestly man, you will be so busy riding the bike, you probably forget about the color...well until next stop light at least LOL

I in the mean time came to the decision to let the still-new 2016 ones go and wait for what the 2018 model year brings. If nothing interesting I can always go for a low mileage second hand V9.
I am expecting something new or updated though with regard to the V9. From V7ii to V7iii was 2 years (2015, 2017, if I am not mistaken). So now after 2 years I can see a V9ii coming. Maybe a standard, stone or stornello version ?
If a new version comes out I want to order it this winter so it is sitting in my garage come spring. Since I don't like buying without at least seeing the bike and sitting on it, I booked train and entrance tickets to go to the Milan Motorcycle Show this november. From Zurich the trip can be done in 1 day, with the new tunnel through the alps I should get to Milan in 3.5 hours. Will be a fun and interesting day, am really looking forward to it :clock:
