Title: Nice ride to a nice little fly in.
Post by: Gliderjohn on August 12, 2017, 02:49:58 PM
Rode the T-3 to a local small town fly in this morning. Got there a bit late so missed a number of planes that had left already but still around 40 so still there.

Haven't been to a fly in for a number of years.  Your post reminds me that these are a great way to spend a summer Sunday morning.  Thanks for the pictures.

There are quite a few of these kind of events in the area each year. Most at small airports and grass strips. What I like is the access. Can walk right up to the planes, interact with owners, easy to get good pictures. Just be aware of your surroundings!

I used to do fly ins in the early '70's with a friend in his C120 tail dragger. I remember breakfast was involved. I has started to take lessons with him, he was a CFI. I wish I had continued as the lessons were free and his flight school plane was $15/hr.

I worked at Southern Aviation in Shreveport after getting out of the military. They had  fly-in's during Holiday in Dixie where people would bring in very old aircraft that were around the area and still flying. there were a lot of pre WW2 machines, very interesting. I need to digitalize pictures :embarassed:
