Title: '940S'
Post by: Moz on August 14, 2017, 08:08:06 PM
So, finally, put the V7/Lemans I/II style tank on the 940 bellagio..

I'd always intended to paint it '750S style' - hence the '940S' plate.. however, the former Guzzi distributor here in Oz had this chrome steel V7 tank with some scratches (which I still can't find..), and I got a bargain. When I said I was putting it on a bellagio he said, "well, you'll need a seat.." and gave me the flat V7 seat you see in the first few pix for nix too

And with a new leather seat

The seating is now a little more upright or at least feels taller - otherwise the bike is just a pleasure to ride: light and flickable around town with short stroke goodness, the last of the guzzi pushrods, with modern suspension, this is now approaching the bike guzzi should have made IMO.

yes, it deserves a clean, especially the excel rims..  all I can say is it's my daily ride

What a nice improvement to my eyes.  Dirt?  I'm a fan of riding more than cleaning myself.  :)

The Bellagio frame is essentially a 'CARC-ised' Tonti and while it obviously has the driveline to handle a fair bit more power I do think they were wise to use the 940 donk in it. It's a lovely motor, the best 2V motor ever built and it suits the bike to a tee! While you might get away with a Hi-Cam in one I can't really see much point. The short stroke 940 with no tacho simply means you bounce it off the rev limiter the whole time and it goes perfectly acceptably!

Moz is coming up to Bungendore soon and we'll see how the Bellagio map goes with it now it has rock strainer filters and a different pipe set up.

Pete

PS. I reckon a set of 1100/1200 throttle bodies offa Griso/Sport/Norge would help it a bit.

Well done, Moz. Not only does it go like a "proper" motorcycle, it now looks like one too.

You did manage to get the 21L metal tank, didn't you? If you get tired of the bling tank, Bagster makes a tank bra to fit.

Looking forward to seeing it - on the old road, perhaps.

Very nice adaptation - This is a much better look than the Bellagio's OEM quasi-cruiser garb.  Well done!

Yup. Why they chose to a.) Make the Bellagio platform a 'Cruisery-type-oddball' and b.) Then not sell it in the USA where such nonsense is popular! God and the weird, zombie-like Piaggio suits alone know!

The Bellagio is a wonderful platform. Dressed up like the arse end of a pantomime horse!

My brain begins to hurt whenever I think about shit like this! All we need now is someone to say it needed 30mm VHB carbs, a four speed gearbox and a Windjammer fairing and it would of been the bike of ages! :violent1:

Those fools running the show. 940? Bellagio? V9? WTF!?!?
Besides getting under my skin, w/their nonsense wouldn't they be dodging a Euro tax group as well? (940 vs 1200).  R3~

They actually sold pretty well, especially for a parts-bin-special, which is essentially what a Bellagio is..

And of course now guzzi don't make them anymore.. .

If I had the $$ and was feeling generous I'd buy up the rare ones that come for sale in Oz, wrap em in cellophane, and stick em in a barn somewhere with a note in my will with the address for my favourite grandson
