I took the bags off the bike last weekend, and with line of sight to the final drive housing established I can see that there is some leaking there.
Harpers shows a " REAR DRIVE OUTPUT SEAL VITON " P/N 90417085 - is there any other seal in that assembly that I should have my brave support crew address next time I get tires on The Bassa Rat (TM) ?

Hmmm .... That is a legitimate question. (goes and looks, returns)
Well, the stain runs about two inches wide on the bottom of the cast housing, from the junction with the driveshaft housing down to the drain plug.
This may mean the issue is something else. It also means actually cleaning it off and watching for fresh indications, doesn't it.

Need to remove tire and look at the inside. If it's just a run from the big seal you found the easy leak. If oil is everywhere it's the inner seal. A much more bonding experience.
You might be replacing the roller bearing too.

It *could* be nothing more than being over filled..and coming out of the breather. The Bassa *does* have a breather, doesn't it? My Centauro didn't.

Until you clean it up powder it, and actually find where it's coming from, we can't help you.

[Chuck], am I correct in interpreting that image as a secret breather induced in the casting house? The Bassa Rat does not appear to have a factory provided breather either.

If I was to collect a parts kit to give to my bold support crew, with an encouragement to give it their best, would that include two seals (inner and outer), a roller bearing, and ?

Bassa breathes through the swingarm and the gearbox vent.

Lets start with, is there oil on the tire or rim? If not, your probably in good shape. For a while at least.
I would then clean the final drive with at least a paper towel and a 409 type spray cleaner. Then ride and see how long it takes to get it dirty.
If I understand you right, the area is toward the front of the drive. It may not even be the drive causing the mess. It could just be road grime, a small engine or trans leak or the like.
My loops like to get a bit of grime on the front of the rear drive. The EV not so much.

Somebody commented on 'powder'.
Clean everything fastidiously.
Spray with cheap, white, foot powder.
Ride to show the leak source as a brown stain in the white powder.
Repair and clean.
I once used Harwal seals for a Guzzi rear drive. Viton rubber and DOUBLE lips for guaranteed sealing. That drive is air tight. More than $100 for the two seals!!!!!!
There are two o-rings on the pinion input carrier. One between the carrier and the drive box. The other between the carrier and the swingarm. Cheap, quick insurance.

If it's the inner seal, the wheel splines will be washed out and the hub will be shiny. I mentioned the bearing. I had damaged it by riding home on a bad port side rear wheel bearing.

At this point in your investigation, I would put a 13m box end on the 4 box to shaft nuts and pull a scant 100 inch pds. just to make sure it is not about to fall apart. 2 orings in that area as others have said.
