Title: A Ural Guzzi?

Just came from Datil, about to head off to see the eclipse. Just had to post this picture of a bike that was there... A Ural with a Moto Guzzi engine mounted. The adaptor plate to match the Guzzi engine to the Ural transmission was a sight to see... Wouldn't want it, but it was still something to see.

That's a trip!
Now all it needs is Guzzi frame, tank, wheels and running gear and it'll be perfect.  :evil:

Must have blew up the original engine and didn't have a BMW engine to put in.  Hope it's a 650.

Nice way to keep reverse, but history has shown it'll wear out the Russian rear drive pretty quickly. I have a friend who done multiple R100 conversions on Urals over the years. Better to just mount a Ural sidecar on a Guzzi. I have done that twice myself now. Good combo!

One of the (few) things I admire about Ural is the common sense design. Should I be complimenting the Germans?  :wink: Anyway (on the drum brake models) the spare wheel fits all three places on the bike. Ditto the shocks. Not sure about the brake shoes. Bike comes with reverse; some have 2 wheel drive, and two tractor style saddle seats. Very stout sidecar. They would make a dandy rig if they had decent build quality. (yes I have heard all the claims about the new improved Urals, but I ain't buying it  :grin: ) Perhaps the owner felt the Guzzi mill would solve some of those problems.

My kid is talking about doing that, kinda.  He's thinking about selling his Jackal to buy a Ural hack.  So it's like putting a Guzzi into a Ural, see?  No?   :bike-037:

He might be better off putting a chair on the Jackal that is unless he want 2 wd.

I thought that V50 in a Ural frame was interesting also...the owner said it would go about 50-55 mph...but that's about it! :thumb: :1: :cool:
