Post by: Lannis on September 08, 2017, 09:11:50 AM
.... with two nice-looking, equipped EV11s on the MGNOC classifieds for under $2000 each?

That's a lot of sporty highway miles for Chinese scooter money ....

Ain't that the truth? I sure wouldn't sell mine for that kind of money.

I would have to "backdate" the bodywork before one would work for me. The seating position just isn't right and I dislike the shape of the tank, sidecovers and seat. I do very much like the engine performance, brakes, suspension, etc. though.

I can put up with any bike's "looks" ... but seating position alone puts the modern Guzzi "cruiser-style" tourers out of the running for me.    Norge, Stelvio, any SP, footpeg Loopframe, YES.    Footboards, forward-type controls, wide bars, anything "California" ... doesn't fit.

BUT there are a lot of people that DO like that style, and what a deal for them ....

Fay and I COULD live on just our SS income, but you're right, I wouldn't be spending any money on motorcycles if that's all I had.   On the other hand, SS isn't really meant to buy motorcycles much, it's just to keep you from getting hungry ....

So you'll have to come up with a clever plan, using your own time and ingenuity, to have bikes to ride!

It's funny - I don't like footboards on Loops, but very much like them on my Convert. I'd probably end up making an EV look like my Convert.

Fay and I rode a borrowed Convert about 600 miles for the summer a couple years ago.

It was stone stock (1976), but the passenger footrests on the crash bar, the footboards, and the wide tiller handlebars almost killed us.   Thirty miles into any ride, we had to get off and stump around to get the circulation back ...

All different.

One good thing about buying from a MGNOC member is that you don't have to worry about something nefarious going on in the background, or not getting what you bought.   It's not Craigslist or eBay, and that's a big advantage.

If something has a salvage title, you can find out why.   It doesn't necessarily matter .....

That's why I took off the buckaroo handlebar on my `77 Convert. and put on a 4" high conventional HB.  :thumb:  For a passenger the passenger/crashbar footpegs are not fun but instead I use them for occasional rear footpegs instead of the floorboards.  :azn:   If anyone want's the original HB let me know. 1 person's trash is another person's treasure.

You are right , but buying a motorcycle with salvage title will require to pass inspection which i am sure this bike will do pass . It is just a little bit of headache ....paperwork etc.

Ran excellent before it was taken apart, cafe racer, powder coated frame and just hasn't been reassembled

So instead of "Ran when last Parked"  it's "Ran the last time it was one Piece"
