Title: Kudos to MG Cycle
Post by: JayDee24ca on September 26, 2017, 02:21:48 PM
I was resealing the bevel box on my 74 Eldorado and had ordered and received the seals and gaskets from MG Cycle. As it happened, the box on this bike takes a 2mm larger outer gasket than the one normally found on this model bike. I found this out after vainly trying to install the smaller ones, and eventually tearing them. In frustration I emailed MGC about this issue, resulting in a phone call from Gordon, who explained that a few of these bikes came with a larger flange, requiring a larger gasket.
Although I was partly to blame for the situation (I did not check the actual size needed before ordering and made certain assumptions on standard sizing), the conclusion was that I received the correct gaskets from MGC within two days, free of charge. Now that is great customer service!!!!! Thanks MG Cycle!!!

Do you have the P/N for the larger gasket? One of my drives is the large style as well. Like you I was ready to assemble with their kit and found out the size issue. Dug though my old bits box and found a usable set.

Thank you,
Tom

IMHO, there is no better source of parts than Gordon and Rick. They know their stuff, and if they *do* screw up (after all, everyone does sooner or later) it'll be no problem for you.
"You want me to send this one back?" "Naa, too much trouble. My fault, I'll eat the cost."
That's happened exactly once with me.
99.9% of the time it's my fault. "That part won't work on *that* bike.." has saved me money and grief..
Good guys.

honestly, if I wasn't try to keep my local dealer a surviving chance, I would have order everything thru MGcycle...

They are quick and helpful, even if I ended up not buying from them *my bad...but gotta support local dealer* :embarrassed:

Tom; the later gasket is 17350700 which has an ever so slightly larger center hole, by maybe 2mm.

I've had three "local dealers" over the years. No matter how much money I gave them, they went tits up anyway. <shrug>

This guy has been around for 40 years...doing guzzi and aprilia on and off...so been TRYING to give him as much biz as possible...the closer one to me is full of young guys who follows the manual to the teeth...and we all know how that works out with Guzzi bikes...

it is just that every time I go, it is 1 and half of highway...snooze ride...

Having no longer any local dealers it is kind of a no brainer. Overall I have found them great to deal with and the products are good. Hope they are around as long as I need Guzzi stuff. As mentioned Harpers know their stuff and if you need an obscure Guzzi part from whatever generation of Guzzi, they probably have it in stock, though might cost you a bit but fair enough.

Well, that's not an issue now. If you look on their website, shipping cost is clearly shown.

The shipping is quite reasonable and is broken down by order price. So if you just need a .10 cent gasket and complain about the $8 shipping, go find it local. OR, add a fuel filter, oil filter something that you always need and might as well have one in your stock to help with shipping.

I try to support my local Guzzi shop, but sometimes he seem reluctant to sell a part that could be used on a customer bike in the shop. I grin when he says you know where I get my part, you order from the same place. just order it  and I say, I want to support you first!!!
