Title: Back in the saddle
Post by: larrys on October 01, 2017, 10:32:15 AM
I put my trusty Cal 1100 in long term storage six years ago. Various reasons, life happens! I am getting it going again. I did remove the battery, fogged the cylinders, and drained the fuel system when I put it away. Fresh gas and a new lawn mower battery and she fired right up! Have changed all the fluids, adjusted the valves, synched carbs, new tires and I'm back on the road. She runs and drives same as before. I do need some cosmetic trim parts though. Please see my WTB ad in the Swap Meet.
Good to be back! Good to see that this place is still here! Lurked a lot before never posted much.

Great story, love that stuff.
Really love the smell when the dust from the static years begins to get hot and burn off.

Welcome back, Larry.  Just 1 thing I'm puzzled about.  You live in Connecticut and winter is fast approaching.

We ride all winter in Connecticut (well, some of us anyway).

Welcome back, riding hasn't changed but traffic may have. After 6yrs you may want to do the brake fld unless you did it already.

Welcome Larry. I did the same thing with a few years in between Guzzis. It was like I never left. Same old guys with all kinds of experience and help for us that are guzzi smart challenged :)

Did the same thing for an old timer who hadn't ridden his Cali for seven years. Serious health challenges kept him from doing the necessary things to get it up and running, stayed in bed some days with no interest in getting up.

I changed the fluids and dropped the sump etc.... He told me the other day that he gets up early now to go for some "practice". He's 72 and I've been out with him, (he doesn't need it !)

Coincidentally, I'm 71  and me and my Cali have been laid up too. Onya Huzo :thumb:

Got an update and maybe a pic or two Balvenie?
When you said you changed the fluids, was that brake/s as well?

I wouldn't trust those tires for daily use or a long trip. Probably a bit hard and cracked.
