Curious if any of you Kansas , Oklahoma , Missouri ,Nebraska and Arkansas folks are interested in a small gathering
Oct 20-22 at the pavilion ? Fri night meal something simple , Sat night pasta spamavera . Weather forecast looks good , although there is no real way to predict out that far . Was thinking we could ride thru the amazing wind farm just South in Oklahoma , curvy little hiway that gets really close to the wind mills , feels like you can reach out and touch them .
Just a thought .

Are Texans being excluded?
Also, do you have the right dates? 24-26 of October?

Dangit , the dates should read 20-22 , will correct .
Of course Texans aren't excluded , just didn't think any would want to travel that far .

Some Texans are plumb loco.

Well , we can chance it and move the gathering to a week later , weather dependent . Cool is better than hot . What say you guys ?
Dusty

Sorry no can do.

Don't move it on account of me. I also have obligations the following weekend so wouldn't help me anyway. If anyone would end of there on Thursday I might be able ride up Thursday afternoon, spend the night and leave mid-day Friday. Will see.
GliderJohn

Sounds like fun, I'll bring the LOCO if the Texans can't :thumb:

Is this coming weekend too short notice ?

well ride to Mt Scott, man.

what??

I could do sat nite
-
I'm up for whenever....
This weekend..and the 27th...are my alternating off Fridays FWIW.
I enjoy that southern loop. Seeing the wind farm along with the oil rigs is an interesting contrast. (KS 15/OK 18, right?) Coming back up 99 isn't too shabby either..and it can't help but feel appropriate to pass thru Chautauqua, KS...especially as a prelude to an evening at the pavilion.
-
Sweet Home Alabama for me this weekend.
But don't plan around my schedule! If you guys do this and I'm free, I'll be there
-
Remember me I'm one of those Nebraska guys :evil:Im still packed, feel I got myself cheated by missen the Oakie, raren (?) to go now :boozing:

So what happened ?
Dusty

Bad timing, however if I left now perhaps I could make CV by the 20th :bike-037:
-
OK fellas , do we take a chance and wait until early November , or do we go with the 20th or 27th . Leroy can make the 27th , it looks like GJ is out until early November . Help me out here , was really trying to have one last gathering before Winter , and give the guys who couldn't make the Okie a chance to meet up .
Dusty
-
No promises, but I would try to make it up there in later part of October or early November.
Weather can be dicey at those times.
-
Count me in, but I my bring my condo. Nov. weather can be crazy in Ark.Rudyr
-
GJ , where are ya brother ?
Dusty

Still waiting to see how things all come tougher. Will be a last minute disicion but the last weekend looks the most possible.

So have we decided on the 27th - 29th of Oct ? Bring your eelectrical blankies  Doug , are you seeing this ? Glider ?
Dusty

Will try to make some of it anyway, still waiting to see how things come together or not.

I hope to be in WVA/ PA about that time. Hopefully can attend in the spring.
-
I suppose if I took a day trip up there that you'd all be gone riding on all scenic twisty roads.
-
The weather is looking alright , so who is in for next weekend ? Need to call the mayor and order some firewood and make sure the electricity and hot water tank are on . Should be fun fellas , the giant wind turbines might already be turning their fall colors
Dusty
-
Ive never seen the wind turbines change to fall colors but here in west Chester Heights we don't have wind turbines either :thumb: count me in this is a must see,+ what better way to spend the week end :boozing:

Well then , you are in for a treat . Nothing like Fall in the wind turbine forest , the Sun glinting off the magnificent giants as their blades move slowly powered by nothing more than a gentle Autumn breeze , almost magical , like some enchanted creatures from a fairy tale .

In the caffeine again??? Are we!

Cool :thumb:
Thinking we will try to eat about 5:30 on Sat eve , if you haven't ever had Pastaspamavera you don't know what you're missing
I'll try to be in CV by 2:00 PM or so on Fri , since it will be dark by 6:31 , anyone have an idea for what you want to do on Sat besides ride thru the Autumn colors in the windmill farm ?
Seriously , we can hang out at the cafe Fri evening , and maybe also see some bison on Sat .

Be there Friday...plan on getting a late lunch at the in town diner. If you see my bike at the motel, c'mon in.
Saturday...well, I usually do a southern loop post-turbine gazing, heading east on US60, wind up in Sedan to get the wife something from a small gift shop downtown..and of course a bite to eat at an adjacent bar and grill.
-
Just a heads up. Bring your long undies and extra blankets. At this time it looks like highs around 50 with lows in the low to mid 30s with clouds and Saturday morning showers.

Unfortunately the forecast is trending bad , yesterday it was saying mid 60's daytime , mid 40's for lows . Still haven't given up yet , we can hope the weather improves , but Tulsa local stations cover Chautauqua CO KS , and early this morning one of our local guessers was saying it might not even make the 50's , and it will be very windy . We should know better by Wed .
Dangit
Dusty

I'll either be in Concord or Cedar Vail. So I'm a confirmed "maybe"
-
All you old farts, who like to snap suspenders, I will be there to snap some with you. The cold weather don't scare me, myself and a lot of you all, were airhead riders at one time. We have all attended the falling leaf rally and that was a cold sum bitch, but we all loved it. Cedar Vale can't be any different, it has to be warmer. Remember Sipapu, NM!!! Now that was cold. The misses still has frost bite on her nunies (long story). Now come on even with green wood we will still build a fire and if it gets too cold we can go crash at the motel with the other whimps. How about fools on a hill, that's one that will give you frostbite. Now the cold doesn't bother me, that's why I drink Coors beer.
-
^^^^^^^
This is why we love the fubinator , he ain't afraid of nuthin'
Dusty
-
Well dangit , the forecast just keeps getting worserer
The long range is calling for a better weather the following weekend . No way of being 100% sure , but 49 F for a high on Sat 28th , with rain and wind just doesn't appeal to me . What say you guys ?
Dusty

Fellas , are we agreed that 26 degrees F for a low and 49 F windy and wet doesn't sound like much fun ? The following weekend looks better , check in please .
Dusty

As long as everyone camps Ruth wouldn't mind. We will just empty the garage & fire up the shop heater.

Heck, I could sleep in my own bed and still get in on the festivities.
Newton and other nearby towns have some decent restaurants.
Are we still talking this weekend or the weekend of Nov 4?

I think we should shoot for the Nov 4 weekend , this coming Fri is going to be an unpleasant day for motorbike traveling .

I'm good for the 4th weather permitting. This weekend is poda be colder than a welldiggers lunch
-
Okay guys, checked with Ruth and it can be a go. We have to greet at church that Sunday morning and then go on to Emporia due to a niece having the lead role in a play at Emporia State.
I can furnish plenty of camping area, a 30x50 garage with a heated shop area as a shelter house. An outdoor shed with floor that could sleep three or four if needed. House plumbing if needed. Fishing, firearm shooting is allowable. If you guys can be pretty much self-contained we can make this work. We our three miles of pavement but a pretty decent road.
GliderJohn and Ruth
-
Going to be back/forth to CA for the next few weeks and will have to catch up with house stuff on the weekends. I'm likely out. Plentiful pics, please!

 I hope you can all understand I made this up as a joke,as ive been to Gliders place + I felt comfortable with my extremely funny post about camping there :evil:So this one backfired on me :weiner: as the story goes,if your going to invite yourself why not take all your friends along also :thewife: Glider John doesn't mind,Marys happy with hubbys moochy friends the dog don't bite +who cares what the weather is :thumb:What a brilliant idea, think Ill take credit for the whole thing, why I should be in politics :boozing:

So Gliderjohn’s place the weekend of Nov 4th?
I know we will be roughing it, but I’m assuming there will still be fresh espresso and eggs Benedict for breakfast, right?

I can do fresh ground coffee beans prepared with a French press but yea, no eggs Benedict. I love it but not well done in most of Kansas. I do have an espresso machine that I haven't used in years but this could be a good excuse.

John , you never cease to amaze  I'll cook eggs , and even do an omelet if someone will bring an electric skillet where it can be done in the shop . Just don't want to mess up Ruth's kitchen .
Dusty

Ruth and I are serious here. If weather allows are we on at my place? Ruth is already talking about cinnamon rolls, apple slab pie and a breakfast casserole. Currently the forecast is for sunny days with low 60s high and 40s night. Just bought a new chain saw so we should be able to throw a fire together.
Prescott, if you make it please bring one of your favorite S&Ws. Maybe can have an old time turkey shoot.

Oh my , that sound good . John , pick out a project that needs doing while we are there , it would be fair for us to help out and repay the hospitality . Fubar can do it while we watch , since he is claiming credit for this idea

Lets start getting a headcount. Who all thinks they may try to make it? Currently the forecast is looking pretty good with high temps in the 60s and lows around upper 40s and sunny. Saturday is suppose to have a south wind around 20mph but my garage doors all face north so we can block most of the wind.
Dusty, the only work project needed may be gathering of firewood.

What town are you in? Trying to compute distances. Or send me a PM
-
Ok. Colour me stoppid. I now see that every single post you make has Walton, Kansas in it.
-
My address is:
3015 NE 96th
Walton, KS 67151 Phones are: Landline is 620-367-3711 Cell is 620-755-3161
I am not far from either I-35 (I-35 through this area is actually I-135) or K-15 and about 35 miles north of Wichita. For those of you coming more or less from the south you want to get on or be on I-35 once you are north of Wichita. Stay on I-35 N as it goes around the east side of Newton, KS I-35 will kind of half loop around the far north end of Newton. You want to look for and take the K-15 exit (North Newton/Abilene). Exit # 34.
At the bottom of the exit will be K-15. You will turn north and take it for six miles to NE 96th (will be marked with a street sign). (If you happen to go by a roadside pull out and a mild set of S- curves you have gone too far, turn around.) At the NE 96th intersection you want to turn east onto a non-paved road. Go three miles by odometer (not by intersections) and you will be very close to my drive. The drive is to the south side and my place sits back about 900 feet but you can make out the tops of the house and garage.
Really, my directions sound much worse than it is. It is quite simple to find. You can also get a look of my place from Google Street View.

I have plenty of parking room for the bluebird. Also have a 220 hookup.
I am guessing Friday on as far as I know but Thursday is fine too as far as I am concerned. Come on down.
GliderJohn

Well what are the travel plans then. Thurs, Fri, and Sat all look fairly decent weather wise.
Dusty, Fubar, John and I had a great get together a couple of months ago. This should be another fun weekend.

If anyone wants to ride up Thursday, please do. Looks like a nicer riding day than Friday. Rest of the weekend looks great!

Will be looking for you around then FUBAR. Dusty was planning to come today and so far he has not called me to say he is not. The weather is not turning out as nice as forecasted for today. Still cool, cloudy and misting. May have to heat up the whirlpool bath to unfreeze him when he arrives.

Just heard from Dusty. He plans to be here tomorrow afternoon. For anyone else seeing this and wanting to come I will try to attach a Guzzi sweatshirt to the street sigh at Hwy.15 and my road and will also park my old tractor at the end of my drive.
