Just playing with photoshop, thought my California Jackal would look nice dressed like a 750 - 1000S. Looks a little Eldorado with the big bars and chrome fenders. What do you guys think?

I like it. Bob the fenders some, but not enough to limit their effectiveness and maybe a superbike bend bar. :drool:

The plastic tank is 17 litres while the jackal tank is 19 litres.

The fenders would have to go. Bob the rear and find an aluminum universal one for the front.

I think it is a very interesting looking motorcycle.

For me; the mix of cafe body and touring front-end just don't mix well.
It's photoshop so; taking off the hump off the seat visually flattens and opens the profile.
The square mirrors conflict with the roundness of the body work. If you can pick and paint that really shiny black near the front of the gas tank ... drop it on the front and rear fenders. You might also colour the top of the seat with a dropper from the red on the side cover... black beauty in red.
It is a lot cheaper to do it in photoshop than it is to enact...

I think it would pass inspection by the unfaithful. Those that recognize the mismatch though might not like it so much. I think the tank and seat clash with the rest of the bike. I have no problem with the chrome fender or disk rotors though, so maybe I'm not the best judge.

Park it next to a V9 and it can't help but look beautiful.
Actually for the record, IMO it looks bloody lovely!

Fenders. Cutting them down, replacement. NAAAAH ! I like the fenders. Big, Chrome and not like every one's 750s 1000s skinny ones. Besides, I spent a few bucks chroming them.

Handlebars. To me, it seems more retro, more old Eldorado with the big Western bars. That's the whole point.
Photoshop is an evil thing. It was just an idea that has taken hold of me and now I'm gathering bits and pieces to get it happening. Am I mad?

It's going to be a bit involved though. I just realised the V7 tank had an internal pump, so I'm going to have to use the pump's plate as a gravity feed with an inline tap to the Jackal's external pump, then have the overflow return go somewhere. Hopefully the plastic tank won't be difficult to put a fitting on. The hose for the overflow will also need an inline tap for when the tank needs to come off.
Do you like the winged V11 sticker I'm thinking of getting made for the sidecovers?

I've sized up the V7 sidecovers on the Jackal, and found that I'll have to slice a couple of wedges out so the Jackal's mounting points don't need to be disturbed.
The intention is to dress her up like a V1000 for a while then return it to the original tank and sidecovers after they are repainted. (The Shit job on the Hydrochrome paint is deteriorating fast, but that's another story.)
Another issue with the V7 sidecovers is that the fuses will need relocating,............ while I'm at it, in anticipation of inspection by authorities when it's shipped back home with me to Australia, I'm fitting a catch can on the oil breather, which currently goes to the atmosphere. The catch can and fuses will be attached to a battery box which I'll also need to have made up.
It's sounding like a monumental task, but it'll keep me busy and it'll feel like I'm getting a new bike! The cool thing is, I'm going to mock everything up, cut, slice, paint etc without the bike having to come off the road for more than a weekend. Then when the fancy takes me, I'll put the freshly repainted Jackal tank and covers back on.
You guys think it's worth the hassle?

I've seen plenty of Jackal, EV fenders on ebay quite cheap. Thing is, would they fit your Eldorado?
Got a mate with a Jackal? Take a measuring tape over and have a look.
If the fender isn't too wide for your forks, You'll have to figure a way of putting the Jackal Fork Brace on.
The fender is mounted to it and has an indentation moulded to the shape of the brace........

The fenders and bars make it look....ponderous. As someone else mentioned, aluminum front fender and different bars. I'm also partial to the Stucchi seat used on a lot of Le Mans and CX100's. Oh...and black and green instead of black and red for the paint.. :boozing:

I rolled my own. Sold my SP and went on a hunt for a 2003 Hydro bike as the base for my build. Started out life as a fully loaded Aluminium. Leather saddle bags, crash bars, barn door wind screen. Now it is out fitted with parts from 18 different Moto Guzzi models. Very few non Moto Guzzi parts on the bike.
It is currently under the knife. Getting a breast implant and losing some weight. Hi-comp pistons, lighter clutch and aluminum rims.
Many people think that parts are hard to get and the dealers do not support the brand. I found that parts from model years 1974 through 2013 can be mixed and matched. From the frame to the motor.
I say go for it. Same frame, different body parts for the most part.

Yeah. I love it the way it is now. I'm only considering the Vintage look to be a temporary measure. Truth is I just couldn't bear to have it off the road for the 2 or 3 weeks the paint job would take.
I'm gonna prep and paint the V7 tank and sidecovers while riding it as it is, then when they are ready, do a quick swap and send the Jackal tank and sidecovers off to paint. I'll have fun for a while riding it Vintage style, then when the fancy takes me, replace the freshly painted Candy Apple red Jackal tank and side covers. So I won't be hacking it. All mods will be reversable or compatible with the original bodywork.
The current paint is hydrochrome. Looks like a red mirror. I love it, but the idiots that did it screwed it up (and the Bellagio as well) First off, it was done while I was off the road recovering from an operation on my foot. they had 3 months to do it, in the end it took 5 months. They dented my perfect tank and tried to give it back to me with a dent on the top of it. I rejected it obviously. Got them to re -do it after fixing the dent. They oversprayed causing runs where the dent was fixed. I was so close to murdering them, I took it anyway. Covered the runny spot with the speed stripe and vintage sticker. The idiots got so much water in the tank it was a shiny rust bucket. They did so many coats the filler cap wouldnt fit, so the paint had to be scraped off from inside. This resulted in petrol fumes from getting under the paint and hey presto............. ..

In the first pic, it's hard to spot, but there are bubbles all the way to where my finger is pointing. if you look at the filler hole, the paint and top coat are bubbling like a cheesy pizza.
I can't stand looking at it. It has to be perfect, so it's getting repainted by someone I trust to do a good job.
They screwed up the Bellagio too. After I got it back together and out in the daylight, the chrome on the tank still showed spiderweb cracks in the hydrochrome. After a couple of weeks, the top clearcoat turned brown. In this picture, you can see a line of chrome where the tank strap protected it from the sun, the rest of the tank is brownish. If you look into the filler hole, you'll see the clearcoat is also bubbling and peeling off.

I ended up replacing it with a real steel tank and having real chrome on it. The Black and red is vinyl wrap. Looks great now!
The front Fender suffered the same fate, browning and peeling clearcoat.

I've since replaced it with a custom made stainless steel fender.
Everything they painted on both bikes has turned to shit. Tanks, Sidecovers, fenders, hugger,......... Everything was peeling, bubbling, chipping and looking crap so has been/will be repainted or replaced.
Looking on the bright side, now I get to turn the Jackal into two bikes. Should look good sitting next to the Bellagio.
