Just a reminder to the Kiwis that the Tattley Rappet this year is based in Kaiapoi just out of Christchurch this year , and starts on Friday 20th of October. Not too late to register (may be getting close for the meals though); more info on the Tattley Rappet Facebook page. :bike-037: :thumb:

We'll hear those tattley rappets all the way up here in the part of the world where people stand right way up!

I've set my valve clearances really large so you will be able to hear them thar rappets from here to Alaska.
As everyone knows, we ride our bikes headstanding on the seat. Gives an extra perspective. Just hope the rain decides to back off a bit. Been just about continuous lately.

It isn't so much the upside down part that is bothersome , it's that 60W-10 oil that is so
confusing
Seriously , the Tattley Rappet looks like a really fun rally .

It is that Dusty. The 60w-10 is really hard to find, however, Penrite being an Ozzie company had been contacted by our beloved Austrian Mr Roper and they came out with it special like, so we are all good to go.

Is it roo or sheep fat based ?

The sheep being fatter provide the 60 part, the roo being lean provide the 10. The roo, being a lot faster than dinosaurs makes Australasian Guzzis go faster than their Northern hemisphere counterparts. Trust me, I are a doctor....

I can't attend, but I am passing through that weekend. Will keep an eye out for you lot on the road.
Is there a time and place someone could go have a look? My uncle is a Guzzi nut in Chch. He doesn't ride anymore but he does have a round barrel Spada he's made nosies about selling...

I suspect so. The last one I went on there was a viewing Sunday afternoon. I don't have the itinerary yet. Most of it is based at the Blue Skies Scouting facility in Williams Street so I guess that is where any showing will be.

Wouldn't have a clue Kev. It would be in the North Island though. It is taken turn about. The previous North Island one was in Wellington. I missed that one as I was in Oz at the time.

Yo Kev. Just got an email from one of the organisers that the next one is in Stratford. It will also be the 25th anniversary of the Rattley Tappet/Tattley Rappet as well.

Cool Muzz, that's a lot closer to home for me so no excuses for missing that unless I fall off my perch before then. Lol

That would be good. The Lost Highway and the Whangamomana Pub are just up the road. I might have to attend that one too since the last one I went to was 2009 at Lake Hawea.
Fred of 160 Stornello (the REAL Stornello, not its name badged modern variant ) infamy wil be riding his Stornello to Kaiapoi for this one, to accompany Don who is riding ( hopefully) his restored V7 Sport which has been under restoration for many years and I will have to get a warrant of fitness (for the bike, not me) for the Monzada and take that. It's a big day out....ooooh at least.....30km from here? Think I can make it...

Love the determination there Kev! :thumb: Not sure when the initial assembly is. I'm booked in for the BBQ on Friday.

Mr Revhead. A post on the tattley Rappet site says that Saturday's ride is to Akaroa, and on the way back we call in to Johnny Moore's joint, Smash Palace, at 172 High Street. Times roughly 3-30 to 5-30 for the Guzzis on Display.
When he had the pop-up bar at the corner of Victoria St. and Bealy Ave after the earthquake, Thursday nights was evidently "bring your bike along and park it inside " night. Never made it myself but did see bikes coming out of there. Probably can't do that at his new place!

Cheers!!
Haha that would have been cool. Until someone on a Harely with no exhaust shows up :violent1:

So where are the pics and reports ?

A great time was had by all.
Friday a meet up with a BBQ meal at the Blue Skies where it was based.
Saturday was a ride to Akaroa, starting 9-30am. Weather was fine but because it was a long holiday weekend there were quite a few Triffids on the road. The set lunch was at the Duvauchelles pub, I missed on that as I like the coffee, food and view at Bully Hayes in Akaroa. While I was there a former pupil of mine identified me from some 20 years ago (scary); he and his partner love their bikes (R1 for him, a Gixxer 600 for her) so it was good to catch up with him. At the end of the run in Christchurch we all gathered at the bar Smash Palace, where GOD was held (Guzzis on Display), so we were there for about two hours. All bikes arrived back at Blue Skies for the evening meal and prize giving/knees up. I stayed overnight so I didn't have to ride home; more rum and cokes. :thumb:
Sunday 10-00am was a more leisurely start for the ride to Kaikoura. Some who still felt a bit seedy stayed back but we diehards enjoyed a very pleasant days ride. A bit stop start around Kaikoura with all the road works after their large earthquake which sent landslides down all over the place, but it all adds to the fun. I called it quits after arriving back at Blue Skies but some of the northern contingent overnighted and left on the Monday morning.
About 70 attended a very well run event, with a wide range of Guzzis attending.
Will try to get some photos downloaded to post soon.

Waiting patiently on pics , or are all of our Kiwis in the witness protection program ?

Stratford Huh. got lost one morning riding down there from Auckland for a Wedding. I was best man too. It was frosty and my brain got a bit frosticated between the temples. It only gradually dawned on me that all was not as it should be when I finally noticed that the Sun was in the wrong place. I had missed the turnoff at TeKuiti and ended up approaching Taupo!
Ended up traveling miles and miles on a very scruffy track though fords and all sorts of stuff to complete the triangle to Stratford.
I've just got to make the next one.

Aye, that I did. Plenty of time to make an idiot of myself at the wedding. It was the first time I had been down that side of the Nth Island.
