A nice fellow I've been talking to has a drool-worthy maroon Cal 2 5-speed with 24k that looks SWEET that he'd give me first dibs on at a great price, but I already HAVE a Cal 2 Auto (although it's kinda rat-like in some regards)!!!
There are so many other models I'd like to own (SP being tops on my list), how many of you guys have run across this same dilemma? The little angel on one shoulder is saying "What are you thinking, you already have one of those! What's wifey gonna think?", while the devil on the other shoulder is saying "Look at that maroon color and those awesome stock lines!"
-
There was a '04 EVT up for sale in the maroon/black cherry that I wanted, bid on it, but it went for more than I wanted to pay. Oh well, what would I have done with two EVT's anyway???

Amazing...are those your only Guzzis? Yours is a special case because the multiples are non-runners. But still, comment is valid...

I had 3 EV Touring (since sold), 2 1100 Brevas (since sold), 3 1200 Sports (still have) and two 1400 California Customs (still have).
I have a failing rental business in NZ, that's my excuse. Still married to a very tolerant wife.

I have two T5's one rebuild into what I think is a nicer bike and one completely in parts. Will be rebuild too if I can get the frame registered.
Also have a ambassador loop.
My friend and I rented two Guzzis from kiwi Dave and had a great time riding around the north island. We didn't have time to go south unfortunately.

The good news for you is that as cheap as Guzzi's are, its probably cheaper to just satisfy your mental condition and keep buying more guzzis than it is to seek treatment. At least that is what I would tell my wife were I in your shoes.

OK, now I feel foolish, should've known the die-hards would come out of the woodwork to rub their stables into my face! If I counted right, I think Don G. takes the prize so far with 6 different models with multiples, and I think also the prize for most (20??). The most I've ever owned at one time was 3, 2 of them Automatics, but that was only maybe for 3 months.
MedicAndy takes the OCD prize with his stable of V11 Sports, nice palette! You guys are way out of my league.

I used to own 2 XL 350s and 2 Yamaha 650s back in the 70s and 80s.
-
2001 EV, 76 Convert, 2 73 Eldos [1 is a parts bike], 74 disc Eldo [parts bike], 67 V700. The wife has 4 V65 SPs [2 are parts bikes], our son has an 87 LeMans SE.
-
Having 2 V7's has been very convenient - interchangeable consumables & spare parts (mostly) & a rough template for when I'm putting things back together. The direct transfer of knowledge & experience between the bikes is an advantage. The second one was such a bargain at the time, I couldn't resist, and have been very glad I didn't. I have since picked a a written off 750 Breva, originally for spare parts, but in such good nick I'm going to try getting that one on the road again.

She has accepted my "condition". I don't question her Louis Vuitton bag collection or her desire to stay at resort hotels. Price of freedom.

On the brighter side, my OCD issue will resolve itself as soon as I find me a Black and a Bronze/Brown 1100 Sport. Those two bikes will then complete my "Owning one of each color" 1100 Sport collection.
So, please keep your eyes open, and let me know if you see one of them for sale somewhere.
ps: This is the one that started the madness!

No exactly on topic, but at one point I had
- 1981 Guzzi 1000SP
- 1981 Guzzi 850 LeMans Mk3
- 1981 Ducati 900SD
I also wanted a 1981 Laverda 1200 to go with the sport touring theme, but had to make do with a 1977 Jota
And a 1981 Honda XR500 and a 1981 Ford Falcon
Also best mates had a 1981 900SS and 1981 900 MHR and I unsuccessfully tried to buy them both
I don't know what it was about 1981.......
Cheers

When both converts started spilling their guts on the floor, I had to admit there was a problem....a good first step...moved to something smaller instead so I could have more of them... :thumb:

I tend to do multiples of stuff that I'm into. I think what is holding me back right now is the amount if junk in my garage (regular household junk, maybe I'm subliminally doing that to myself) and I literally have no room to store anything else in it.
And since Chuck Peterson posted his moped collection... thought I'd share mine too (since I've been considering getting more of them and paint them candy colors :-)

The most Guzzis I ever had at one time was three: '89 LeMans V and two '75 850-T.
The first T was my baby, the one I built up into my all time favorite bike. The second I intended to do something similar but a little more performance oriented with. However, I never got to it and sold it after holding it for two-three years. I never rode it so I never really think of it as one of my Moto Guzzis; I was just its custodian for a while.
I've always found that when I have too much of anything, everything suffers – including my mental health. So I keep the motorbikes down to one, the bicycles to one, and the car to one nowadays. I'm doing the same with cameras (although two is a better number there) and computers now too. Simplicity is best.

Same here , simple is good . Small house , small TV with no cable , flip phone instead of a smart phone that I can't use , usually just camp on the ground . Wholey Schmidt , like I'm some kind of weird minimalist it seems

Minimalist is a good thing! How do I get there???
I never intended to have a collection, but now they're everywhere. I won't say where they are, what they are, or how many, but it's a lot. Quite a few are two or three of the same model - for example 1977RS x 3. I started out with a 76 T3 basket case three or four years ago, but the title was missing. Then I got a 77T3 spring of last year because who knows when the basket case would come together? And so it goes - now I've got three guzzis plus the basket case.
Passing up a good deal takes an awful lot of control sometimes! I think I'm getting better now that there's no place to put a new bike.
-
"How do I get there?"
Well , it helps to be broke  Seriously , some of us are just naturally minimalists , probably influenced by upbringing , dunno . The first step is stop buying stuff , then figure out what you are really using on any kind of a regular basis , start getting rid of anything that doesn't get used on a regular basis .

My current ambition is to have one of each CARC bike. I currently have a 2v Norge and an 8v Stelvio, and I hope to add a 8v Griso in the spring. The underlying platform is consistent, but the execution and result is so remarkably distinct!
-
Does it have to be Guzzi?
I bought a Honda Silver Wing Interstate so my wife could ride with me. I liked it so much I bought the naked version to ride when I didn't want the huge fairing in my face.
The original Interstate engine began burning oil so I bought a parts bike and transplanted the engine.
I still find them fun, but am trying to rationalize. Too many bikes.

If serial ownership counts, yeah I'm in, having had duplicates of Eldos, Ambos, Ts. Non Guzzi duplicate bikes were Yammie XTs, DTs, Honda CB 750s, Sportsters, BMW K bikes, and Triumphs. Right now I have 2 early 21st century Bonnies. Always looking. :thumb:

Started with a 2002 V11 Scura: Keeper
Then I found a neglected 2003 V11 LeMans (Red): fixed it up to be a keeper, but...
Then I took over Unkept's project: 2002 V11 LeMans (Champagne): project currently stalled...
2000 V11 Sport (Green): This was too good a deal to pass up recently. Low miles, ran like crap, transmission leaked... it's all sweet and clean now. I was gonna fix and flip, but now it's a keeper and the 2 LeMans need to go...
I'm sure we all have our "reasons", but at some point the light on the crazy meter does start to flash.
So Tom - you ended up with a short (red) frame V11 Sport and the Nero Corsa (with Ohlins)? That's kind of where I'm at - keeping the Ohlins-equipped Scura and quicker steering early model. And that green... it's spectacular in person.
-
Sorry for delayed response. The Ohlin suspension was a major factor for buying the Nero Corsa besides less of them being built. Excellent sport tourer bike. :thumb:
