Title: Thoughts on this used Stelvio?
Post by: flip on October 22, 2017, 10:58:12 PM
What do you guys think of this Stelvio. Almost 40,000 miles before the roller conversion was done. I know any used machine is a risk but do you think this one should be okay?

Are cast wheels available for this year model?

Solid bike, been serviced very well since new. I burped it to life at the Hill, put rollers in it for Tazio at Marietta. The bike has been owned by 2 members here. It has a pipe & tune .

Cast Wheels are available through a Guzzi dealer.  They are nice looking and not terribly expensive.  They were standard equipment on the Stelvio 8V that was sold into the UK/Europe market.  The US only got the spoked wheels.

The cast rear wheel will be narrower than what is on this '10 bike.  The narrower rear wheel is set up for a 150/70 tire, the wheel on the '10s was wider for a 180 (I think) width tire.

Thanks guys. The price is appealing. I'd probably never leave pavement so the wider rear wheel and tire on the 2010 is a plus, to me at least. It looks like 2010 was a good year for Stelvios, except for that pesky valve train.

The narrower back tire is not just for going off road. You get a much larger selection of rubber to match both ends. Some of which wear longer.
