Hello !
I am new to this forum, so Hi !! everybody!!
Could someone tell pro's and con's of both bike T3 vs. Eldo?
What would i need to upgrade if i want it to make it better ?
Ridebility comparison?, what to upgrade ?,
Really like to look of loopframe bikes , how hard would be to put T3 mecanicca in loop frame ?
Eldorado looks lower ground clearance?
Wheelbase difference?
Just tell your opinions of both bike , specially those who have own drive enough with Eldo/T3??
I have 1400 touring and V11 sport , need vintage bike!

I will let others here better explain the tech difference. Have you had a chance to ride both types? They are a completely different feeling ride.

I have 1400 touring and V11 sport , need vintage bike!
The biggest advantage the T3 has over the Eldo is brakes - linked, triple discs vs. drums or rear drum and front disc. This is the area where improvement is needed the most on an Eldo.
There is no need to put the T3 "mecanicca" in the Eldo, since there really isn't much difference between the two other than the T3 has an oil filter and the Eldo doesn't.
The Eldo does have lower ground clearance, but since the engine is lower and farther forward, your knees don't rub up against the rocker covers.

Like i mention i really like Eldorado look, and if i'm buying T3, i am modding it look something like Eldo.
How about finding loop frame and changing T3 inside loop frame?

Been build few bobber yamaha's , so ready for hard work if needed!

Unless you're really pushing it hard, ground clearance when cornering won't be an issue. This will depend on a few things though: tires sizes and suspension setup.
The last of the Eldorados/850GTs with cartridge forks and disc brake had better high speed stability than earlier ones. A steering damper (as fitted to the last Eldos) will help a lot. Some of the problem was too much load towards the rear (police panniers and radio box) which changed weight distribution for the worse.
Wheelbase on the Eldorado is listed as 57.8", the T3 is identical.
My advice: buy a later Eldorado with disc brake and go from there. Be prepared to pay quite a bit more than you would for a drum-brake Eldo though.

Guzzi Guru Greg Fields put modern suspension and brakes on an Eldorado. It wouldn't be a project for the faint of heart or someone with shallow pockets. :smiley:

I find it odd that you are already mentally screwing with a bike before you've even tried it.
Buy one - ride it for a year or two, then decide if anything needs to be changed.
Why mess with perfection? Eldo or T3 - leave 'em be.

This is great advice, IMO. I've had a T3 for 18 years, and did have a drum brake Eldo for a while at the same time. To me, they were very different rides -- both enjoyable. Give one or the other a try and see what you think. Maybe try both so you can compare and contrast.

The loop frame has a bit of flex to it while the Tonti frame bikes are a lot more ridged. They are both fantastic in their own way. IMHO one is no better than the other it all depends on what you are looking for.

Why not get the best of both worlds and by a EV/California 1000/ 1100 / Jackal / Stone ?
You get the full fenders of the Eldo, the great handling Tonti frame (T-3) but with better suspension, braking, engine etc. than either one.
You'll probably save a ton of money as well.

is enough , ?????
CALI 2 , 3 vs. T3 does it have shorter gearing , accelerating faster than Newer cali's???

I have only ridden a couple of loops and they both felt like they were hinged in the middle. Yes, it was a stock bike and I understand that better suspension will solve or reduce that problem. But, if I was going to dump a lot of money into one of these two choices it would be a loop.

That collection of trivia has been best collected in a book called "GUZZIOLOGY", written and released in several revisions over the years by David Richardson, guzzisti emeritus. It's got a lot of detail covering just about everything Guzzi bike related. I recommend it.

Morgano already owns a 1400 , he is looking for a vintage bike to compliment his two modern bikes. I do agree that a T3 and a loop are very different experience , the T3 is a more modern feeling ride , the loop is more stately . Just depends on what you want .

I loved every Eldo I owned!
The cush drive is in the wheel, not the rear drive. An 850-T rear wheel with cush drive can be fairly easily installed onto a Loop if you really have to have one. If you abuse anything, it will "eat" gears. My Ambo has no cush drive and at 110k miles the gears still look virtually new.

I totally missed that he has a 1400 and a V11 sport. Since that is the case I'd recommend any loop. The early V7's and ambassadors have their charm, and there is nothing like drum brakes to have the full "Vintage Bike Experience". :grin:

VERY nice job on a Loop frame tank with no chrome! Although an Eldo, it has an Ambo dash? Or did early Eldos have a speedo-only dash? Never considered that a T3 front end would bolt up, that's a sano mod.
