2 decades of Moto Guzzis in review:
As of Thursday of last week, I went over 200,000 miles on Guzzis, and no, I'm not counting speedo correction :-). I began riding them in 1997 on a '73 Eldo. Getting off of Hondas and Kawasakis has proven to be a smart and rewarding move.
Now on my 10th Guzzi in 20 years, I stand firm that the 98 EV I rode for almost 90,000 virtually trouble free miles (probably 50% of those miles dragging a camper) is probably my all time favorite so far. However, this MGX with 8,000+ (s)miles is quickly jumping to the top of my list.
The funnest (and fastest) bike I've owned hands down is the 98 Centauro. Every time I straddled that thing, I felt the need to red-line it. The fun factor of that thing was off the charts. It was so far off the charts, I felt I needed to sell it or it may have killed me
The easiest Guzzi to ride was the 1984 V65C. It was a hoot. I could throw that thing around like a mini-bike. I miss it, and am looking for another to tootle around on.
The most comfortable believe it or not is the MGX-21. I can ride this thing all day long with NO problems. Couple that with cruise control and it's flat out a mile-eater.
The best handling was the 2012 Stelvio NTX. To me, it was like controlling a roller-coaster car. It felt to me like it could not crash, no matter what I threw at it.
While my piddly 200,004 miles on Guzzi's is pale in comparison to many others, I'm quite proud of it because all of those miles were while maintaining a full time job, raising 4 kids and keeping up with other chores and duties.

You have every reason to be proud, Luap! Well done!

Raising 4 kids and don't forget keeping us unruly bunch in line
Congratulations Luap

:thumb: May we follow in your footsteps, exceed your mileage, and enjoy the ride even more!
-
And you Should be proud of the balance you've maintained between family and Guzzi miles!
I got a friend w/ 115,000 miles on a Two and a half year old Victory Vision.
Wife, kid and full time job. He's just never home.. Sad really.
Again, Congrats to you, Sir.

I like the way you described your life on Guzzis, Luap, describing your experience with each model. :thumb: Unlike you I haven't kept track of how many miles I've accumulated riding Guzzis other than I earned my MGNOC 100K badge years ago. But like you on your Centauro I had to sell my `87 Le Mans IV before I got nailed riding it too fast (139 mph) racing other bikers/cars with it. :clock:

Rock on Luap

Congratulations, Luap! You've certainly been faithful to the brand.
My miles over the past 33 years are all over the board, including Yamaha, Kawasaki, Triumph, Honda, a bunch of BMWs, and two Guzzis. (Guzzi total since 2010 = 75,000 miles.)
BTW - what do you attribute to the feeling of speed the Centauro provided? Probably a dumb question ....... since it probably was just a fast bike.

Just keeping track of the mileage on 10 bikes is a feat in itself. Do you write that down somewhere? I just sell em and forget about it
-
:thumb: Every time I look at the 100K application, I get lost in the documentation. :embarrassed: Too lazy to figure it out. Maybe I can tell Frank to just give me one.

I keep a spreadsheet that has all my service mileages. Some of the bikes actually had more miles than I claimed since they had additional miles after I serviced them. I've done this with all my bikes. I'm pretty fanatical on timely servicing and documenting miles.

The Centauros speed was real. It had the Creedon C5 chip (I think), mistrals, K&N and would absolutely fly. I GPS'd that thing at 143 and it felt like it had more to go. The weather was perfect, wind at my back and a long straight stretch. I'm the one that surrendered on that particular outing.

Congrats :thumb: :thumb:

Am I the only one who can't keep an odometer working ? Many of my miles are UNKNOWN.

Good on ya Luap
If I'm able to wear out my fleet in time.............su ccess.
I just love these machines and places they take me as well as the people I meet along the way.
Ciao

For years now on January 1st I take an odometer reading of each bike in the garage. I have never run a cumulative total. Congratulations on the milestone.

:thumb:
Nicely done! (I’m at about a tenth of your mileage.)

No, until I got Guzzis in my stable I had never needed to carry extra speedo cables, clutch cables, or throttle cables. Even tho said cables are stout for me they don't last forever like my Jap. bike cables. :boxing:

I'm gonna have to pick up my pace - I've got you on miles, but a bunch of them aren't on a Guzzi.
Enjoy the ride, and look forward to even more once you get the kids out of the house!

Hi Luap,
What a good do.
Well played sir.

Respect!
I just passed 9000km in my 2yrs Guzzi journey which started August 22nd 2015 @ 15:00.
I'm pretty happy with the number too, considering most distance has been commuting to work (40km roundtrip unless I take a detour along the coast line  ) and also being a father of four, full time jobs and a sick wife.
-
Well done, sir.
-
Great thread. I'm on the other end, I recently passed 2,000 miles on a Guzzi. About 120,000 lifetime miles on bikes though, so not a complete slouch.
-
This inspired me to guesstimate my own mileage. I have accurate data for about 10 years (I log mileage at every fuel stop) and projecting that back, riding about seven months a year since 1970, I figure about 280,000 miles on 10 different bikes. About 90,000 on Guzzis. Mileage varies tremendously year to year depending on whether I was commuting on a bike, living in the city or the mountains, had a wife-or-girlfriend who liked to ride, etc.
-
Congratulations!!
-
Neat story. Congrats on the 200K
-
I got 110,000
been in treatment a few years.
maybe Ill step backu p to the plate someday!
