Never heard of that trike and no way I would pay $12.5K for it.   Don't even know if I would pay $3K for it.

First thing that popped into my head was it looks like a 3 wheeled Hebmuller.

How do they start the engine backwards?  I understand how a two stroke can run backwards but how do they start it running backwards?

They come up for sale on "Bring a Trailer" every so often.  They all seem to have come in the same color.

Pretty sure those wheel hubs are same as on my old Velorex sidecars. I think they still make Jawa/Yezdi parts in India.

i like it. i'd love to have one but then again i have always wanted a messerschmitt bubble car too. i find micro-cars fascinating. this one, with its skinned tubular frame and a gas tank in your lap seems a bit more of death trap than most BUT still i want one.

Run the starter backwards I guess
Any DC motor will run backwards if you reverse the direction of the current in the armature.
Of course the starters we are used to have a 1 way clutch.
But the Bosch Dynastarter comes with just a double V pulley
Note it will also charge the battery while running backwards.

Timing has to change to get the motor to run backwards. I have a 1960 Mercury 800 outboard motor that runs backwards for reverse. The starter has two sets of brushes and two bendix's, one for each direction.

A lot of marine engines have gear reduction, but no direction changing capabilities.  They were shut down and reversed to make the boat go the other way.  Also, a lot of early electric-starter vehicles did double-duty operating the dynamo backwards to start the engine.  Modern slab sleds like the Goldwing also run their starter backwards to get reverse.  That's why when I get challenged to a race by another trike owner my one condition is that we go backwards -- I have engine powered reverse and can go as fast that way as I go this way.  It's the only way I can win.  No, no takers on backwards racing so far.
