I just took ownership of a long-neglected '70 Ambo (pics to follow soon), and after reading in a post yesterday about a guy who swapped a T3 front end onto his Eldo, I scrutinized the triple-clamp area and compared it to my Cal 2 (pretty much the same geometry as the T3, right?).
First thing I noticed was my Cal 2 (Tonti) placed the handlebar clamps between the steering-head and the fork downtubes, while the Ambo (Loop) placed the clamps I think just aft (behind) of the steering-head.
This is a difference of a couple of inches at least, so I'm thinking I would feel a more tiller-like effect steering the Loop vs the Tonti, but I don't recall really sensing any difference (shows you how "in-tune" I am to my bike's handling...)?
Is this difference in "input" to the steering significant, and maybe a reason the position was abandoned on the Loops, or does it really wash out with handlebar shape, other differences in steering geometry, seating position, etc?
Just wondering, I always liked the easy way my old Eldo handled (although the frame DID seem kinda flexy), but now that clamp location looks wrong....

Be careful. I once put a T-3 front end on a loop frame bike, and the fender fouled the engine case the first time I applied front brake. Your cal 2 front fender may have a "flat" on it that avoids the problem. I thought my loop with a Tonti front end turned a little quicker (than stock), and the dual disk brakes were definitely a plus!

Wow, that's a Frankenstien-ey-looking bike if you don't mind me saying so. I kinda like the Goth utilitarianism.
So I guess this has been done before, and yes, I've heard of the fender problem. Do you use the Tonti triple clamp, or just slide the fork tubes into the Loop clamps?

It works out with handlebar shape. Leverage is where your hands are with respect to the head.

T-3 front end in total. Tried to use the Eldo fender, that is when it fouled. Had to use the fugly Tonti fender.

Yes just buy a set of bars that put your hands in the right spot instead of creating something new
