Title: GRiSO design tweaks
Post by: kidsmoke on November 06, 2017, 01:32:54 PM
I'm a bit obsessed with Griso's lately. It seems to me that you see a lot of custom builds of Tonti's, LOTS of variations of the new V7's and V9's, very little of loops or spine's. In my wandering bout the interwebs digesting articles and images pertaining to the Griso, I've come across very few iterations on it. It doesn't take much though to change the flavor, and it seems it doesn't really screw with the fundamental design. Apologies if these have been covered here before, I've not seen 'em.

here are a couple

Griso as scrambler

and another, I dig this one.

article(or really, just more photos) : http://cutebutevilgirl.blogspot.com/2011/04/moto-guzzi-griso-calibro-11-by-filippo.html

anyone here done more than add ergo edits/farkles/exhaust? Lemme see!

Yeah, agree, you'd think there would be lots of custom Grisos out there. Have you tried searching German Guzzi sites?

I seem to recall that Rossopuro made several designs based on the Griso, but I may be mistaken.
Anyway, I think that Calibro is gorgeous.

The griso is one bike that would be next to impossible to improve on aesthetically IMO. I would say that the original designer pretty much nailed it. I have yet to see a customized one I like any better than a stock version. Well maybe without the oem pipe and add a rear hugger. All  subjective of course.

+1.  Ghezzi & Brian do some stuff but the stock bikes with cast wheels are my favorite.  Maybe a Tenni?  Not a fan of spokes or weird paint jobs.
If they had offered something similar to a Scura variant with Ohlins and ABS I would have been waving money around but I think they are done for now as far as performance.

There are custom makers out there, but no market for $35K bikes. That's what it costs.
Anyone can bolt on bars, tanks and goodies but see who makes a stainless tank that fits in the G frame. No demand= no parts.
How many bikes does Moto Studio sell? Not many. And they are what I consider custom.

Stock is just fine, with a little mod here and there its better, in fact as a design it is iconic and will a be part of motorcycling history.
It also works pretty dam good as well .
Yes i have one    and if Guzzi built more models like it and kept the carc i would be there.

I totally agree, the original Griso design was right on from the beginning. 12 years later it still has some of the most attractive lines that I've ever seen on a bike, so I bought one. I've seen that scrambler before, and I like the looks of most scramblers, but that one doesn't improve the looks of the Griso at all.

LowRyter, the headers are Arrow Ti ( titanium ), Rear section is a custom 304 stainless steel "X" cross over of my design, and 2 cheap Chinese made mufflers that were about $70 each delivered. way to loud for the street.
Different mufflers in this photo, a bit too quiet, sounded like a wet fart
Cheers Ron
