Title: Stelvio fuel filter spec
Post by: ITSec on November 08, 2017, 01:53:09 PM
No, this is not another discussion of semi-plastic filters!

I have reason to mess around with the new-to-me Stelvio's fuel tank during an upcoming major farkling session, so I figured I would pull the fuel pump and check/replace the fuel lines and filter, since there's no reason to believe this has been done yet. I know what spec of line to use (Gates 27097 Submersible Fuel Line Hose, for in tank high fuel pressure, 30R10) but I seem to recall the fuel filters commonly used for other CARC bikes are different from those used in the Stelvio.

A search of the forum failed to turn up the correct item - anyone recall what it is? Or correct me if I'm wrong, and if the ones already listed for other CARC bikes will work in this machine. Thanks...

if yes, this is the list I have for my V7

Reports are that the Stelvio filter is smaller in both diameter and length than those you listed, which were all common replacements for the filters in V7s, Norges, Brevas, you name it. The Stelvio has a unique fuel pump design, and with it a different filter. It also uses a funky o-ring on one end of the stock filter.

The filter supplied to me by my dealer has part number of GU01106090. Supposedly, this is for my '09 Stelvio, (small tank). It is not smaller in diameter like l thought. I don't know if it is the same for the big tank models.

I happened to have photos of 2008 small tank Stelvio fuel pump/filter in my phone

If you zoom in the first photo and squint your eyes, you will see '145' on the filter body

TimmyTheHog listed all the compatible filters of V7,  Mahle KL145 is in the list

Thanks, one and all. The fuel pump assembly for the small-tank Stelvio appears to be significantly different from that used on the 2012 and later NTX; the parts catalog for the earlier bike doesn't show a separate part number for the filter but Zoom Zoom reports it is GU01106090. The part number for the filter for the later NTX is 641277. I'm thinking that this is a different unit.

Given the relatively low mileage on the bike, I may leave the filter for now and just deal with the clamps and hoses that reportedly have problems. I'll take some careful measurements while I have it out of the tank, though!
