The Water Buffalo!
-
One year newer than my '72 that I had. Has disc brakes. :thumb: Nice! That kind of money, I'd rather buy the 2013 V7 Racer in Gilbert.
-
If that was here in Germany I'd be there with the cash.

I also had a 72, my 1st road bike, was a blast.
-
I had a GT380 in college in the late 70's.
Always wanted the big water buffalo. That is the nicest one I have seen in ages.
-
Wow, what a beautiful survivor! I would think a bike like that would be worth about 10K !
Rick.

:1: I had the aqua not as funky of a color as the fuschia. It would lose the muffler cones on a regular basis till I safety wired them. Repainted it black with the logo in red.
-
My baby. Oh BTW, they where called Waterbottle's here in Australia

I think it is worth closer to $10K given it is original and in such great condition. It would fetch big $$$ in the UK.
-
Under priced by at least 4K
-
Geez I wish I had the money. I lusted hard over those back then, never managed to get one.
-
Cool bike. Always wanted one. I was a hard core 2 stroke fanatic back in the day. Yamaha RD-400 was the word.
Yet the Water Buffalo seemed somewhat bizarre to me at the time. Water cooling? Radiator? On a motorcycle? Seriously?
Now the majority of motorcycles are water cooled and the air-cooled finned motors are the oddballs.
-
Yep.
First road bike.

Fondly known here in Blighty as 'the Kettle'.
My neighbour as a GT750, GT500 AND GT250 in his collection.
-
Also know as "vandbøflen" (water buffalo) in Denmark... at least a more positive name than the HD VRod - it's called "vandrotten" which means water rat
-
In the UK they were known as "Kettles"
Seen a restored one quite recently, nice bike

One must use caution with these great old bikes. Just replacing the tires alone will put this bike in a price range that one will never get no where close to their investment bank and a carb rebuild and you will have twice the bikes value invested.

Always thought the 750 was called the water bucket and the titan 500 was the bottle, may simply be regional variations.

Some things are worth more than the sum of their parts...

First tour I ever went on was on a 72 orange GT 750. I went from northern Minnesota to Nova Scotia coming back through Maine and New England. All my gear was bungeed on in a green army duffle bag. It had a windshield. The only time the fan came on was in traffic in Montreal. Just put gas in and 2 stroke oil, Pennzoil or whatever outboard oil you found. Keep some grease or oil on the chain. no problems. I met a Canadian from Thunder Bay in Quebec and rode with him and some other Canadians from Windsor for a while. Two Strokes stay in the back.
