Wow...made me look at my own...my 10 years was June of this year...thanks for the memories!
-
Many here have uncounted years. Early on, there were a couple of board crashes that caused the then current members to rejoin. I recall when there were 300 members.

well you got here just ahead of me i think! I have built 2 Moto Guzzis from this bunch of guys!
-
I told my wife a few days ago that internet forum is dying, it will soon be a thing of the past just like the VHS, DVD, ICQ, SMS...
the local motorcycle, car forums and several international forums that I participated are once very active ten years or so ago, are struggling to attract postings and viewership since two or three years back
wildguzzi is unique, I didn't monitor the statistics but I am here almost everyday and see no sign of declining
what is the magic formula here?

Forgot about that....guess I've been around even longer than I thought...even found my picture of the old Scuzzi Guzzi on page 9 of the Guzzi Pics...

Luap, which year was wildguzzi forum started?
-
Looks like just over 12 years for me on the forum.
Before that, I hung out at the MGCL (mail list) for a bunch of years.
I bought my first Guzzi in Spring, 1999 and have been involved with MG online since before that.
Over the years, like others, I have benefited greatly from the combined experience of fellow Guzzisti. Lots of learning, a bunch of laughs, an occasional dust-up -- all good.
Thanks, Phang, for the reminder about just how good this forum is . . .
Best,
Carlo

I originally registered just before I bought my 98 EV......so getting close to 20 years. When I joined, the board was the line-by-line discussion type board that you would follow a thread by expanding the branch. Can't remember what they were called. This board has kept my Guzzi on the road. :bike-037:
-
Early '02, just before I bought my EV, is when I first joined. Many comers and goers since!
-
I use FB to keep in contact with family from the remote south. I use WG to keep in contact with interesting people.

IIRC about 5 crashes. A lot of work for Luap.
-
March 14, 2009, 09:39:34 AM is when i came on board.

Luap, which year was wildguzzi forum started?
1998. I moved it to this format in 2003, then a major crash made me completely rebuild it again in 2005.
-
It was before w/it says. I remember MG Cycle and Harpers going after ea other on the site.
-
Mike and Gordon after the SD National. IIRC
-
Think I started in 2003and re registered a few times after crashes. One time I was the first to re register
but it crashed again that day and by the next day I found I had to register again. By that time I as way down the list
around a hundred and something. I think it crashed again some time after that And the time I got back on there were over 300.
-
Well what do you know I am also a 10 year member as of last April. I have enjoyed the board very much, learned a lot and made new Guzzi friends. What's not to like. :thumb:

IF you check the dates that someone joined. The majority of the older forum members are 10/10/2005. That's when the website got restored after the latest total crash. The stats are from that date. Any earlier and that info got lost. I signed up on the end of the first page or the start of the 2nd page. IIRC Dean Rose and Chuckie were in before me.

No doubt you recall when your screen name got pilfered? Some of us were keeping tabs to try to get you back as yourself when it happened, (crashed), again.

Tom from La Jolla? :boozing: Yeah, I've been here a long time. What little I know about Guzzis was mined here.

and Fred Sahms (Farmer Fred) had some epic political arguments and both got banned.
I know and like both. <shrug>
I *think* that may have caused the no politics or religion rule.. a good thing.. and I'm guessing the reason for the longevity of WG.
Thanks, Luap! :thumb:

The thing about forums is the content is permanent. (Except for photofuckit pics and content lost when the site crashes.) Facebook and the like .......... the posts are only temporary. You can't search for a topic like you can here. Wild Guzzi is like a readers written encyclopedia of Guzzi stuff.
BTW. Hi Fang!

Yeah, Chris in Wahiawa with you and others helped me get it back. :thumb: That was interesting. Turns out it took a while to figure out that he was some guy stuck on a computer. He was on a number of forums as a troll. I asked him for my username back and he took delight in being a troll, denying my request. I posted some educated guesses on the forum. Must have been true with him bailing from the forum. Thanks again for getting my username back. Hopefully, LaJolla Tom, the troll is in a better space. The mouth/head pointer that he uses and abuse that he gets from his attendant are behind him.

No other motorcycle related web site comes close to the quality of this one, an amazing resource for all things Guzzi (and perhaps all other things as well).
Imagine if every other internet discussion group had the same basic rules of use and the users respect for them that this site does, ...... it would discourage all the nut cases and haters from ever clogging up band width.
Makes me realize that regardless of ones political, social, religious opinions, if we just leave that crap on the porch we can actually get along and enjoy what matters, ... motorcycles.
-
Eight years for me. I was on the forum shortly before buying the 2008 1200 Sport in Oct 2009. Bike delivery was 'on hold' until April 2010, when the weather broke long enough for me to make the ride home from Swanzy NH to Hudson OH.
WG ..... best forum ever!
