Greetings wiser ones! So i'm mucking around with a set of RAASK Laverda bars on my Jackal. My switchgear has those little locating doovers to hold the switch gear in place on the bars, but I"ll have to either drill the new bars to accept the doovers or remove the doovers from the switchgear. Option 2 seems logical because what actually is the point of drilling very adjustable bars right? Anyone had any problems after removing the little doovers on their switchgear, with the switches moving or rotating on the bars?

Had to do remove the dimples on a few switches over the years, never experienced any problems
However doing it the other way around I have managed to make a right old mess of a good set of clip ons

I've removed a few, only problem I've had on some is switchgear slipping on 'shiny' bars. Put a couple of wraps of tape around the bar first if it's a loose, or even a strip of thin emery paper for better grip.
I'd prefer not to drill bars, especially clip-ons that take more weight than conventional bars - wouldn't want it failing under heavy braking due to it having been weakened by holes... :shocked:

Yo ozzydog, a trick I've used for years is to not remove all the post completely. Leave a littlle nub and it helps add some force on the bars when you tighten it down. My $.02

I always seem to be changing bars on my bikes, and dremel off the switch locating pegs. Only once have I had a slipping issue, then a strip of friction tape around the switch housing fixes it, and you can razor off any unsightly excess around the edges if needed.

Had one problem only a little while back. Had been doing various works on the V7C, then couldn't get it to start. Traced the problem back to the clutch switch. The switch block had moved a little around the Raask bar, just enough to prevent the lever going far enough in to activate the switch. If you are going to remove the locating pins, that's just something to remember before looking for other causes.
