Title: Arizona Guzzi Riders Question. Is This Service Guy Any Good?
Post by: Guzzi Gal on November 21, 2017, 12:26:11 PM
I know most of you do your own work, but I never really progressed much past the "garage-girl assistant" stage.  With that in mind, I contacted Greg Bender ( thisoldtractor.com ), and he recommended Tom Hull's shop ( http://www.tomsitaliantuneandservice.com/contact.html ).  Can anyone comment on his work?

If you have a prefered service provider, please don't keep them to yourself. :whip2:  Oh, and I'd love a shop that will let me watch them work, provided I stay out of the way.

Thanks!

I bought my 85 Lemans from a forum member that lives in Avondale AZ. He is a long time Guzzi guy, and always had the LeMans, and his other bikes serviced by Tom Hull He highly recommended his shop, and Tom personally as honest and doing quality work. I have a bunch of invoices from work Tom did on the LeMans, and his prices seem reasonable too.
If Greg also recommended him, I dont think you can go wrong, he knows the Phoenix Guzzi community well.
Rick.

I don't know Tom Hull, but I know Greg Bender, and if Greg recommends him, that's all I would need!

Mr. Hull just responded to my service fee inquiry.  First service is $150 total, which sounds quite fair when compared to Ride Nows $150 per hour (avg. 3 hours!), or riding over a 100 miles to Prescott for $95. an hour (about 2 hours), plus both charge about a Benjamin for the oil, and filter.  Hes also here in the valley, so I dont have to worry about abandoning the family for a whole day, as Im the school bus.

Tom has serviced my bikes for years.   :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

But he's pretty much a loner and often works late in to the night after his family goes to bed.
Not so sure about watching him work.  I've never done it.  It's just his nature.

Our local shop posts their rates on the wall.

"Shop Rate per hour - $75.    If you watch - $100.    If you help - $125"

Better check in advance!

Agree 100% with Mike...Tom Hull works for  $$ CASH $$ only, but he is "EXCELLENT" with Guzzi's and has worked on my '98 Centauro GT without any issues.  I can highly recommend him without hesitation. :1: :thumb:

If Greg Bender recommends it, you can take it to the bank!  :thumb:

Tom is the best. I've been going to him since 2001, and I used to frequent his family's dealership back in the day. ( Guzzi, Ducati, Morini, Triumph )

My LeMans is sitting on his bench right now.

I did ask, but he only gave me his service rate.

Cash works for me.  It's good to hear that I've been pointed in the right direction.

Tom does great work. I know several people who won't take their bike anywhere else. He keep himself educated on servicing many brands.

If you watch, help, worked on it in advance and swear you've checked everything but it's still not working - Shop rate $200 / hour!

Tom is one of the best. Very fair, honest, and will fix it right.  He always has something else on the rack that will blow your mind, and is building another hot rod that looks killer.  I started going to toms dads shop many years ago and can say that quality service like toms israre, and beautiful thing.
