Title: New V7 Stone headlight?
Post by: insignia100 on November 26, 2017, 10:41:24 PM
Looking for a replacement, better-than-OEM headlight for my 2013 V7 Stone. I'd like a bucket that is a bit deeper, because the stock plastic headlight bucket is too small to comfortably fit the headlight modulator I have installed. Any suggestions?

I'm actually casually looking for a higher quality replacement myself, not particularly for any other reason than the OEM one feels under cheap, and rattles. I'm waiting for the day the headlight just falls out.

I noticed one by EMGO (I'll try to remember to post a link later), but it's so inexpensive I wonder if it's not just as bad. An I don't know dimensions yet (not 100% sure that it fits or that it would suit your purpose any better).

I half wonder if there's an OEM take off from something that might work better?

I assume you've not found anything yet?

Here's what I was considering looking at:

I believe this one's 6.5" wide at the mounting ears.

And this one's 8" at the mounting ears:

I really should take some measurements of the current unit, but one of these should work, perhaps with some shims or tweaking of the ears.

EDIT - A quick look with the tape measure suggests that the first should work with some shims and longer bolts, and the second SHOULD work or be really close/tight. At worse the second might require a slight bend of the mounting ears.

Below is a link for a smooth top (no holes for idiot lights) Lucas headlight. This was originally manufactured for the late Meriden Triumph Bonnevilles. The fellows at the Bonneville Shop are great to deal with...
