I'm a week from sending out my 850T frame to be powder coated, and wondered if anyone has had their frame coated matte black? The bike is not stock at all, and I've been teasing the idea to my brother but he believes it will show stains. Any experience out there, pros and cons of gloss vs. matte powder coat? Thanks!!!!!!

If you look in the builds section of this forum, Canuck750 did matte black on his lemans. I did satin on my G5, which is sort of in the middle. They all look good. The shiny won't show the oil drips as much, but in a way, the matte or satin will act like a warning light that you need to take a look at something in that area
Here is mine, pretty sure the powdercoater called it Satin. I know it wasn't their gloss, nor their matte.

This is hot rod flatz paint. There is a flat clear you can put over it but i like this sheen. I have a powdercoat guy that has the same sheen (different brand) for my Cal2 when its time. A few strategically placed chrome peices will pop out and contrast the flat pretty well i think. You cant go too overboard because then people just think the bike is confused :undecided:

Consider "frame black" or "HD black" Not quite a gloss.

I did this VFR wheel a while ago. I used "Honda Frame Black"

Bikes should all be flat black. VFR I did in expoxy sealer and RC51 I used spray bedliner.

Took these photos myself a few years ago. I think powder coating can hide internal corrosion. Im having it stripped off of a frame because this example scared me so much. You can see fractures through paint but not powder coating
