Title: Superprestigio 2017
Post by: LowRyter on December 14, 2017, 11:56:37 AM
here's info regarding the race and FansChoice.

Saturday, 16 Dec, noon eastern time.

American Flat Frack fans will have a lot to cheer for, too, with U.S. riders Briar Bauman and J.D. Beach taking on some of the best flat track racers on earth, including seven world champions.  (meh)

Calling this event a flat track race is like calling bass tournaments sport . Sorry , I tried watching the event the last two years , and except for Baker smacking MM around 3 years ago the racing isn't ... racing that is . If the organizers really want to put on a flat track race they need to build a track in Southern Spain that more closely resembles an American or Canadian short track . Sorry for the rant.Seriously , I would rather them call this a Speedway event and race Speedway bikes , because that is really the way this is designed .

Since the racers themselves are flat track racers according to this news blurb, what shall we call the racers if this not a flat track race?  :)

Only a few are flat trackers , most are road racers from around the world .

You might like aussie flat track (or kiwi tt). Is a kidney shape track with a right hander, totally different game, by comparisom long track, short track and speedway are the same thing, keep turning left.
Troy Bayliss puts on an event at Taree  where he puts all of the riders, big names from around the world out on our flat track, the yanks seem to love it.  Sadly cancelled for 2018 but look up Bayliss Classic and Baylistic Scramble to see depth of field hes managed to get before.

M. Marquez didn't win last year so he isn't showing up this year at the Superprestigio.

Now I am confused. I don't know weather I should be upset that I don't have 'fans choice' or the fact that it isn't traditional flat track. IT JUST NEVER ENDS.

Hmmm, flat track style racing on a shortened dirt road racing type course. I still prefer having braking as a part of the equation when racing a bike or car. But that's just my perspective.

It's mid 50s and I have a bike that hasn't been ridden in a week or so. That's about to be remedied!

Well now it says 16/17 for dates. AND just watched Bauman come in 2nd behind Beach who was 1st and going to finals.  USA kickin butt.
SuperFinal coming up in minutes.

Edit:  SuperFinals--- 1st Beach, 2nd Bauman, 3rd Cardus

Who was w/Briar? Ha, looked like Shana to me.  Lotsa crashin, bumpin, pushing out of the way to win.

Well my ride was cut off a bit short. Trent and I stopped in at Maxey's Yamaha to check out something he wanted and when getting off the FJ09, I smelled coolant very strong.  Looked down at the bike and it was covered with white residue. Upon further investigation, found a hole in the radiator where something, rock maybe, had pierced it.  Left it there as it needed it's 26,000 mile service and a couple recall things done.

Back home and can grab another bike.

Did you all watch the site Yukonica posted. A guy on a , well I thought it looked like a handicapped version of a motorcycle, kicked butt on those super bikes. His riding position, his style, his bike were .....wrong. It just boggled me.
As for fans choice , I did not realize it was an Internet site. My bad. I am not very net savy.
As for flat track, it's dirt and usually 1/4 mile. Lots of dust and flying dirt.

The Superprestigio is just a dumb race. Wrong bikes on wrong track. I'm sure they must have horse racing tracks in Europe- flat track on one of those. Even better - adapt rally racing for motorcycles - like The Isle Of Mann only on dirt.

The weird bike is from a gambling event called Funabashi Autorace.
It looks to be a handicap setup where the fastest start last.
Unsure if Yakuza pre-establish the finish order or not.
