You should know by next year ———- or the following year ——- maybe  :boozing:

525 pounds wet.  Yep, that's a guess.

We should start a guessing game on this one. Whoever's closest without going over wins. IE, The Price Is Right

The prize: The admiration of all the members on this board for your obvious expert knowledge of Guzzi

No editing your post

Are we all agreed wet means ready to ride and about half a tank of gas?

488 lbs wet

oh, i always thought that "wet" meant a full tank BUT i am not basing this on any real factual understanding - its just what i always thought. its only another 15 pounds or so ...so, no big dif. i was sorta doing a seat of the pants comparison to my neighbor's bmw gs650 which is about 100 pounds lighter but missing, of course, about 200 cc's.

The Roamer weighs about 438 pounds "wet," but without (any?) fuel. Add 4 gallons at 6.3 pounds per gallon, and it weighs about 463 pounds "dripping wet."

The new V85 will probably weigh more because of its extra bits and (hopefully) greater fuel capacity.

My wild stab in the dark: on the "happy side" of 500 pounds.

ok, a more apt comparison would be with the gs800. the beemer website (just checked) says that wet ("fully fueled") weight it is 478 pounds. so, they are getting a bit closer to each other in terms of overall weight with the goose being a bit more portly.

Oh, that's just mean, only 3 lbs above my guess, I haven't got a chance now.     :boozing:

My guess :) 225 kilos.....496 lbs

210 would be optimal...462

Considering it seems to be constructed entirely from hot air, not a lot.

Snarky vapor ware comments aside, we've been told that they built it fully intending to bring it to market by this time next year. Time will tell the truth of that statement, but the source is a long proven one around here so I don't get the skepticism.

The adv. bike is the fastest growing segment, or slowest shrinking, segment of the motorcycle market, Guzzi's gotta do it. IF they bring it in at under 500lbs and with the advertised 80hp it will likely be a winner IF.......... they step up and provide a stronger dealer network, improve service and customer support.

I believe a GS1200 is 525lbs dry (and without 600lbs of accessories... which they never do).

about the only way to really know the wet weight of a bike is to ride one onto a truck scale.  Otherwise, claimed wet weights tend to be about as predictive as EPA milage estimates, 'point to a general direction at best.

A 2016 stornello has a Kurb weight of 436lb. Double disc brakes and a little more body work=471lb....

I don't know  where you guys are getting these really low weights..?
From memory  the Aero Lario (same basic engine and chassis) weighed around 475 lbs dry when I weighed it last summer. Add roughly 30 lbs of fuel.. 505, the same as the Mighty Scura empty. Add emissions stuff, say 10 lbs, 515. Heavier battery, 525. Hmmmm, the transmission and rear drive have been beefed up..say another 10 lbs.
535 is my guess.

If they factory outfit it with guards (skid plate, hand guards, rear rack, and even panniers?) and such ala the Stelvio NTX vs the original Stelvio, the weight could vary significantly.  Since at this point the minor details are up in the air, I would say low to mid 500,s, specifically 540 lbs.

editorial edit... It is funny how a lot of the guys complaining about MC weight immediately start adding heavy farkles to their bikes as soon as they get them. Exception being changing exhaust.

We'll just have to weight and see...The more I look at that thing, the more I could see myself with one.
For what I do, I reckon the Norge could have some long service leave. I just cannot stand the Ronald Mc Donald paint scheme though, it looks shithouse...
Will have to be satin black frame and Guzzi red body bits with no blacking out of the engine.
I would like the same colour concepts as the Ducati Multistrada, such that from a distance in early dawn light, you'd have to take a second look to tell them apart.
If they build one, I'll buy it.
Would be fun to get one in Mandello 2021 and ride it home to Oz....
Hmmm..

The subject has come up before. I weighed my 850 LeMans and its 476 lbs with 5 gallons of gas. No reason the V85 should weigh more than this, it could be quite a bit less. Use the motor as a stressed member and save frame weight. Fuel injectors weigh a lot less than carbs. Replace the lead acid tractor battery with Li-Iron. Toss the steel cans for alloy canisters.

Motorcycle Consumer News independently verified wet weights of 444# for an 09 V7C and 443# for a 13 V7R.

So as much as you might be tempted to think the older smallblocks are "the same" there are differences in components that lead to weight savings.

If memory serves the lightweight aluminum cast and spoke wheels were among the improvements.

The spoke wheels weighed in as less ??

Yes, IIRC with the introduction of the 1TB models changes they made included new lighter cast wheels and be lighter aluminum spoke wheels.

If you like I can check the initial product sheets next time I'm on the laptop.

Because the number of times Guzzi have delivered a concept bike on time and on spec can be counted on one hand thats if they actually deliver it and they've got form for not delivering it at all. Ippogriffo 750, MGS-01 Series, the V12 LM, V12 Strada and V12X never amounted to anything.
The original V11 sport was two years after initially promised the Cali 1400 was two or three years between concept and actual bikes on the show room. For the NTX they still need to build the "new" motor i.e. not the one in the concept bike.

Basically there is a reoccurring pattern and with the accountants at piaggio in charge there is no reason to expect anything else.

Except the source that is telling us about this one never told us about any of those.

Conversely he's been pretty much 100% accurate in the 10 years or so I've been posting here.

And as for the latter snipped stuff, I'm not arguing over time line from concept to product, just what actually will make it to product or not.

I've currently got no reason to disbelieve our source.

If the V85 is truly an enduro bike, as Moto Guzzi says it is, then it had better have a relatively light weight!

The bike has 540lbs written all over it.  A Honda Africa Twin weighs 535.  A KTM1290 weighs 550.  A Multistrada is 560 and the GSA is 573.  The Stelvio NTX is a whopping 598.

Once you start building a frame and subframe that will handle two fat Americans and 100+lbs of luggage being pounded over rough terrain, it's difficult to get a large displacement ADV bike under 500lbs.  Especially one with shaft drive.  There is a reason the GSA, Super Tenere and NTX all appear in the top ten list of heaviest ADV bikes and part of it is their drivetrain.

There are bikes like the 650 Vstrom that come in under 500lbs but while I love the Wee as a solo ADV mount, 45ft/lbs doesn't really cut it when you're fully loaded for an extended trip, two-up and trying to pass someone in the mountains.

I am definitely in the market for this bike.  I think it looks great and has all the features I want in a ADV style rig.  I would be gobsmacked if it was 525lbs wet, let alone anywhere near 500lbs.

Both the Triumph and BMW 800s come in at under 500 lbs wet. With about 82 HP at the back wheel (94 at the crank)  it will handle two with luggage with ease. How many here travel on EVs or loops two up? Neither is close to 82 HP.

Well the Ducati Multistrada has certainly gotten porky then, believe previous gens were right around 500 wet, and the "official" dry weight on their tech spec sheet was 467 lbs if I remember right, for the 2010-2014 models anyways.  Nearly a 100 lb weight gain for the newest model then is quite the increase.

Ducati is the most infamous liar in motorcycling regarding the weight of their bikes.  Their idea of "dry" sometimes means no fluids at all, no fork springs, no battery, no brake pads, etc.

And if the bags, brackets, crash bars and aux lights are removed from the Stelvio NTX, that 598 weight is closer or below the competition. Certainly lower than the GSA.

The rumble amongst those in the know is a dry weight of 440 lbs.
If so, wet would be 480-something? Sounds about right, and what Guzzi would want.
