Title: Denali SoundBomb on a V7ii
Post by: Rainrider on December 21, 2017, 12:57:32 PM
So I picked up a two-piece Denali SoundBomb compressed air horn (plus wiring harness) a while ago, and this week I finally blocked out enough time to install it. The install was pretty straightforward, for the most part. I was able to use the mounting brackets from the previous pair of disc horns for the two pieces of the SoundBomb, although my crash bars made the fit a lot tighter and more awkward than I’d like (and honestly most of the install time was spent trying out different mounting spots).

I sprung for the one-size-fits-all wiring harness, which was probably not the best choice, as I now have a few extra feet of thick bundled wiring coiled up inside my left side panel. On the plus side, there is a handy spot under the left side panel where the 30 amp relay can be mounted.

At some point, I may redo the wiring to economize a bit, or spring for some better mounting brackets, but for now, it’s on and it’s loud and it works.

To be honest... They look too big for me. My choice was Hella StrongTone: perfect fit between cylinders and crash bar, plug-and-play installation.

They are big. I may decide they are too big at some point and put them on the K75, and go with something else.

The last time I looked to upgrade a horn, I ended up in a Harley shop. They didn’t have anything aftermarket, but they sold me on a stock HD horn (which needed to be loud enough to get over the exhaust, I guess). They were pretty tickled that it was going onto a BMW.
