Title: Guzzi is at the M/C shows this year!, at least Chicago!
Post by: bad Chad on December 26, 2017, 05:06:20 PM
They are not quite as numerous as years past, but Guzzi will beat the Chicago show in early February.

God knows we could use a diversion by then!

IIRC they were in LA, but not NYC....

If I had to guess I'd say it will be a local dealer in Chicago.

Probably Windy City in St. Charles. They have been there before and will probably bring a few Guzzis, Triumphs and maybe some Aprilias.

More on the Chicago show direct from Guzzi:

2018 Chicago International Motorcycle Show

After a successful showing this past November at the Long Beach Progressive International Motorcycle Show, Moto Guzzi will head to the Windy City in February to warm some motorcycle enthusiasts’ souls.

During the Chicago International Motorcycle Show, which is slated for February 9-11, the Eagle Brand will display its latest lineup of motorcycles—MGX-21, V9 Bobber, V9 Roamer, and the V7 III lineup that includes the Stone, Special, Racer and limited-edition Anniversario.

A custom Guzzi will also be on display alongside these 2017 models, one that will without a doubt garner loads of attention from our fans —  the Rodsmith V9 Retro Cafe Racer. The build was part of Moto Guzzi V9 Customer Builder Project that allowed some of the world's most ardent Moto Guzzi customizers to have at it with the V9.

And Rodsmith did; this type of creativity created major design challenges, but one look explains why they are so worth it.

First was a turbocharger and polished stainless exhaust system to get the V9's soul churning as quickly as possible. Next, fabrication of some aluminum body parts, including a small bikini fairing, gas tank, seat, front fender and all other bodywork pieces.

The others on display cover all forms of riding, from baggers to urban commuters. And they all do this in Moto Guzzi style, of course.

The MGX-21 was launched at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in 2016, and immediately impressed journalist and riders around the world. The MGX-21 “Flying Fortress” was designed to compete with the heavy competition in the American bagger market. Built on a California 1400 platform, the bike’s 90-degree opposed twin produces 97 horsepower, and the engine is complemented with three riding modes, ABS and traction control, along with a stereo system.

The V9 Bobber and V9 Roamer will steal the attention of many at Chicago Motorcycle Show with their 850cc air-cooled V90 powerplants that produce 55 horsepower and over 44 ft/lbs of torque. Like the cruiser lineup, each V9 model offers something unique for different rider attitudes.

The V9 Bobber caters to the urban rider who prefers blacked-out styling and small doses of chrome, whereas the V9 Roamer takes a more traditional approach with its classic colors and copious chrome accents.

Chicago IMS participants can also experience the V7 III, which builds on the legendary platform that debuted 50 years ago. Revamped with more powerful air-cooled 744cc, 90-degree V-twins, all three models - Stone, Special and Racer - now produce 52 horsepower and 44 ft/lbs of torque. The V7 IIIs now offer better handling due to a new chassis, a 3-level traction control system (including off), and two-channel ABS.

Staying current with the modern Moto Guzzi trend, each V7 III also caters to different rider personalities, from the subtle-styled Stone to the classically-styled Special to the café racer-styled Racer.

The Moto Guzzi staff will be on hand to educate participants on any element of these newer Moto Guzzi models.

Also on display will be our V7 II, California 1400, Eldorado, Audace, Griso, Norge and Stelvio models. Basically, a different type of ride for any type of Moto Guzzisti.

For participants, IMS offers free gear check, the popular Kid’s Zone presented by Allstate, a Stunt Show, the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show, where you’re sure to see some Moto Guzzi customs, the Marketplace presented by Cycle Gear.

The Chicago IMS show is the sixth of seven across the United States.

At the Vancouver show, the guy I spoke to said he was Piaggio, had a good range of scooters, electric bikes, Apprilla, Vespa. those 3 wheel scooters and Guzzi, had one of the local dealers there as well.

No official Guzzi presence at the Cleveland IMS this past weekend, knew it going into it though.
The latest Indian models continue to impress, and I needed some replacement Fit Ear earplugs.

It does seem strange that they continue to display the Griso.

'figures.  The first time I haven't gone to that show in like 20 years and somethings interesting shows up. 'Seems like the last 4-5 years I went the purpose was to make me feel I was just fine with the bikes I had.  IMHO bikes went into a fugly period in say the mid 90's which they are just starting to come out of.  Bikes like the V7's, the Bobbers, the Bonnie's, and the new Enfield's are starting to give me hope...
