Wonder who will take Walter Becker's place on guitar during the tour. Becker played a pretty distinctive guitar and I can't find any published information on the band's lineup.
The Doobies will be:
Patrick Simmons – Guitars/Vocals
Tom Johnston – Guitars/Vocals
John McFee – Guitars, Pedal Steel, Dobro, Fiddle, Vocals
Bill Payne - Keyboards
Marc Russo – Saxophone
Ed Toth – Drums
John Cowan – Bass/Vocals
Since I was never a Michael McDonald fan, his absence doesn't hurt my feelings. I do like the addition of Bill Payne from Little Feat!

No idea if it would happen, but if I were lining it up I'd say get Jeff Baxter back on stage - with both bands. He has the skill, and when he left each band it was on better terms than is usually the case.

I'll be at the Starlight in KC for that, saw Steeley dan there a few yrs. ago. Also saw the Doobies @ Merlfest they rocked the Bluegrass festival!

I'm old and I fart. Count me in! :thumb:

Jeff Baxter
What can I say.. he can do it.

I hear Cracker Barrel and Ensure are major sponsors.

Honestly, I was never a fan of Walter's playing on guitar or bass. His lyrics were what it was all about.. and he was really good. *Many* fine guitarists played with Steely Dan, though, including Skunk Baxter, as previously mentioned.

I have to say that the tour schedule is pretty ambitious.

Did anyone know that Skunk is space and missile expert and a consultant to NASA and DOD?
Things he's learned from music and recording have given him special insight.

That "Depends" on who you heard it from. :cheesy:

Seriously? I think I feel a leg getting longer.. for sure when he wrote in Guitar player magazine back in the day he was out in space..

Steely Dan was and is such a brilliant collaboration of so many galactically-talented musicians and studio geniuses that although Walter will be missed, one just needs to turn the kalideoscope a little and an entire new masterpiece of sound appears...highly recommended ticket if you love good music!

Or just get a really good illegal smile going so you won't notice Walter is missing

Will they have groupies to follow them around and carry their oxygen tanks? If they still have the chops, should be a pretty good show.

Interesting note! Patrick Simmons of the Doobies is a dedicated vintage motorcycle enthusiast and a Cannonball rider. So is his wife Cris.
