Just a local Craig's listing that came up
2003 Moto Guzzi v11 LeMans Rosso Corso - $2800 (berkeley north / hills)

Good thing it's not Black as I would be sorely tempted......
and to think I drove 4,000 miles to pick up my Rosso Corsa! Well, it was an interesting 4 day trip.

Had one, and I'd consider buying this one if it was closer. Can't imagine it will last long at that price, even with some wear
-
Looks nice, especially at that price. I'd not noticed the two-tone red paintwork before, must open my eyes a little more often, :embarassed:
-
Wow, thats "Guzzisti cheap!" Just the Ohlins suspension is worth that much!
Rick.

I smell fish
No phone #
2800 obo ? Seriously?
Not possible....
-
I agree with Arveno. The Fairing and mirrors , with hardware are worth 2k.
-
Sent off an enquiry email. I live across the Bay and can go have a look. we'll find out if the posting is kosher if I get a non phishing response . Most likely Arveno is right...

Mate if you like it, why not just fly over and ride it home ?
Seriously, how long can it take?
I just don't get it..
But as a footnote, it sounds dodgy.
But it might be in his wife's name, and she's found out he's been having an affair with her best "mate".
Don't die wondering, (he obviously didn't) if my postulation is correct.  :thumb:

And another one bites the dust. Posting has vanished from CL

What is the motivation behind bogus postings such as that one.
What is there to gain ?
Serious question..

Trick people into giving you a deposit (and they'll never see the bike).
Convince them to meet you to inspect the bike - and then mug them (often with accomplices).
Various other connivances.
It only has to work on a very small percentage of those who view the ad to be worth the cost (free) and the effort (minimal in most cases).
Experienced and/or cynical people won't get taken in, but that doesn't really matter.

Send a Craigslist response. Ask for a phone number and email address. If you don't get one then more than likely a phishing scheme.

I'd love to Lannis, but I can't write..
And what would I possibly want with a Red V11, I've already got something better. :thumb:

I was thinking of notes like "Make list of potential accomplices ... " "Bone up on effective mugging techniques ...."

As always..."CAVEAT EMPTOR!!"

Yeah, I'm picturing about half a dozen of us with our assorted limps, braces, hearing aids, et al ganging up on somebody to relieve them of their cash - which, being Guzzistas, they probably brought in five gallon buckets of loose change.

Good one! It'd be even funnier if a significant number of our WG thread topics aren't things like
"Colonoscopies ... How Much Should I Pay?"
"Who has the best A1C Readings on the Highway?"
"Which are Best for Touring - Knee or Hip Replacements?"
