Yeah, in my misspent youth, I spent many happy hours in the woods on the top of a Matador. Occasionally, of course, it was on top of me..
Kept a pair of vise grips clamped to the frame. That an a rock would fix about anything..

In the late 60's I frequently attended local dirt track races in Ohio; seemed like 90% of the riders were on Bultacos.

Still have two Sherpas, Great bikes, the way the front end handles and the pulling power from the 350 is just a joy to run up a big 'ol hill!

Had a blk & silver Metralla. Wonderful bike. That thing would eat light bulbs as fast as I could replace them. I still lust for that bike. It's better suited for me now than then. Except for needing to boil the Castrol 50 wt. out of the muffler every 3 wx, iirc. Wuzzat really 50+ yrs. ago? R3~

Metrallas were exceptionally good handling bikes for their day.. :thumb: Pretty good power, didn't weigh anything.

I seized that engine 2x. It had a 350 barrel and piston when I foolishly sold it. I still have 3 - 2 strokes. Have you seen pictures of the latest? Vins Duecinquanta (250cc V twin. Out of Italy. (~250# 80 hp), All CF and FI. R3~

That gas tank is just an amazing piece...perfect egg shape without a line... :bike-037:

I worked at a Triumph-Bultaco shop in late 60's - early 70's, and always thought the Metralla was one beautiful bike.

Bultacos are way cool, but that Montessa in the background is just as cool! A big-brother to one of my friends in the late 70's had a Montessa like that, with long hair hanging out of his helmet and a Jofa mouthguard and leather Hi-Point boots, he was our local idol in the early Michigan Motocross scene. We just had your run-of-the-mill CRs, TMs, and YZs......which would soon outclass the Euro bikes on the track. Still, I wish I had the $$ just to mount that Montessa in my front room to look at.

Bultaco had a few highly developed water cooled 2 stroke road racers. Cripes, they were cooler than ? R3~
