Title: gators on a Cali?
Post by: Tony/CT on January 26, 2018, 12:37:35 PM
The fork tubes on my 09 Cali. Vintage need replacement. I'm interested in fitting a pair of rubber gator/boots over the fork tubes and am wondering if anyone has done this. What works there and where they came from. I'm tired of cleaning bugs and tar off of the fork tubes. I have a 78 BMW with the gators on and have never had to worry about cleaning the tubes. Thanks for any info. Tony

I use NOJ brand Neoprene Fork Guards on all 3 of my Guzzi's with great success.

Where I used to live in norCal there were many rice fields which meant many small insects especially @ sunset.   I had to cover 1 way or another all my bike front forks or they would spring leaks repeatedly.  I went to a Harley dealer figuring theye'd have some for sure and they didn't even know what I was taking about!?   Got some from the local Suzuki dealer.  End of issue.  :thumb:

Gaiters, man, not gators!

I expected another Florida horror story.

All civilized bikes should have fork gaitors.  I frankly can’t stand the look of a shiny exposed fork tube.  It’s like a white bone—highly functional and not meant to be exposed to the elements

Run these on the Magni, I cannot remember where I got them from but I seem to remember they were just generic dirt bike gators that I cut and attached with jubilee clips, not the neatest I know but do the job

On the bikes with upside down forks I run neoprene gators from Kreiga, much the same as already posted

Not had a problem with the Guzzis but the Ducati blew a set Ohlins seals in short order after about 5 years and very low mileage, since installing gators never had a problem

My Mille came with similar ones called SealSavers and I like them very much.

No such thing as gaitors.

Technically the word is "gaiters" with an E , but we understood what the OP was saying .

I did have an image of a Guzzi being swarmed by those critters from the swamp
