... but apparently not yet as well as a MotoGP rider.

Given enough time and cubic dollars, the bot will be able to put in better lap times than any human rider. Being able to go wheel to wheel in a pack of riders will take quite a bit longer.

It can't beat Karel Reiswebber though.
In the early sixties he came up outside Bart Markel in the back straight and reached out and hard slapped the rear fender of Barts bike.  Bart was a gutsy rider but wouldn't take a chance that something had broken.  He backed off and went into the pits to fix it.
Warts in the memory part of my brain.
Carrol Resweber is the correct spelling of the name.  He was National number 1 for several years. He raced Flathead
Harleys, best on flat tracks, half mile and mile.

I don't believe that.   Like this attempt said, there are too many variables in this scenario.  If going around a lap every time was constant then what you suggest might happen.  But going around every lap isn't the same, it only appears to be, especially when you add in other racers on the track @ the same time.

Maybe you need to spend more time on a diving board at a pool.
Look what it did for Zarco. He can back flip And ride.

He's come a *long* way in a very short time. Seems like just the other day, he was hooked to an umbilical. Add in AI, hive learning, and ....
Sorry, I have to go to my bunker now.

He's not so hot.  He has to be standing on an elevated platform to do the backflip.  He can't do it from an ordinary standing position like a human.
