Friday, I bought a new crew cab Titan 4x4 truck. My son took it for a spin yesterday. He had to see what the 390 hp v8 felt like so he mashed the gas pedal. A smile came across his face and he said "wow, it sounds like your Guzzi!"

I always thought a Guzzi sounded like a small block Chevy or a typical V8.
We have a 90 degree twin spinning at twice the RPMs of the V8 car engine, it should sounds pretty close.

Evidence that you are raising the boy right, Exhibit A:
Boy says: "Your truck sounds like a Moto Guzzi."
Does the boy ride?

Thank you and yes he does ride, a 90 degree v-twin, a Suzuki SV650. He does really like my Italian v-twins though.

Of course it does.

If someone told me that MY truck sounded like a Guzzi, I'd shut the key off before the engine self-destructed, and figure out what was wrong .... !!
Sounding like a "washing machine full of crescent wrenches" is NOT a good sound for a V8 .....

Guess there are some advantages to hearing loss. All I hear from either the Norge or the T-3 is exhaust. Have no idea what these other noises are that people keep mentioning.

Our top ends are busy, are right out there in the breeze, not damped by a fuel tank, and amplified by a dishpan shaped valve cover .... Guzzi newbies are always writing in to the list with "My Guzzi sounds like there's something wrong with it .... " and we have to reassure them "They all do that, sir ... " !

I'd pulled in at the turn off at the top of the Snake. A guy came over and looked the Scura over. He said, "I enjoy listening to what is coming up the Snake and can generally tell what it is. I'd have sworn you were a built small block Chevy. Oh! hear that?? Speed triple." He was right.

There are other bikes that click, clatter and clank, possibly more than a Guzzi... If they had previously ridden a Motus for example they will return thinking the Guzzi is mechanically quiet, especially when stationary at a stop light. Some late model BMWs also sound like threshing machines at idle.
A Guzzi going quickly down a twisty road is the best bike to follow for the sound track, there is nothing better.

Yeah, a Guzzi at full cry is a wonderful thing. :thumb:

The sound of my V11 sometimes make me think of the built 289 I had in an old Ford Mustang. But I hope it never sounds like the 7.3 V8 Diesel in my F250. Talk about a slow and agricultural motor...

Good bikes. Bro-in-law has one. More than happy with it.
