G'day, is this ad for real? If so does anyone live in Detroit? Its approx 10,000 miles from Broken Hill.

Yes, it's for real. The seller is Paul Szostak the MGNOC Southern Michigan Rep.

That shop looks familiar. I think I looked at a bike there around 2002 or so.

I live near-ish to Paul and have happily done business with him a few times. As noted in an earlier post, he's the MGNOC rep for our area of Michigan. He's definitely legitimate. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again if he had parts I needed. That being said, he knows the value of what he has. Don't expect bargain prices. On the other hand, if you need rare Loop or Tonti parts, you'll probably find that he has things that almost no one else does. It's worth a call to him if you are hunting for hard-to-find parts. And you'll need to call. He doesn't do much of this new-fangled texting stuff or email.
If the OP (or anyone else) is interested in anything in particular and wants a fresh set of eyes to check it out, I could do that with a bit of advanced notice.

You gotta see this...I counted 10 pairs of DB bags, 50 plus starters, and an army of gas tanks hanging from the ceiling and a wall of carbs....amazing

He Certainly is the real deal....I bought a NOS bennelli tank from him that was perfect for a very reasonable price.
You aren't asking about the 1$ listing ploy are you? It's very common n CL here in the States to list as such for advertisement of "lots of stuff"

I called him last week when I saw that ad....I asked about the stack of DB bags and the price for a set. What he quoted is what I'd expect, certainly not a bargain, but not a gouge, either. I bookmarked his phone # for future needs.
What amazes me is how a person like that is able to amass such a VOLUME of "rare" and collectable pieces......I thought I looked at CL within 100 mi fairly regularly for the past couple of years, and I haven't seen ANY volume of cool stuff at bargain prices. He must be sitting on a lot of that stuff for decades.

As an observation on Craigslist. A name and phone number is a clue that it's not a bogus ad. I like his photos in a weird sort of way as wallpaper.
