Title: NGC What is it?
Post by: drdwb on February 10, 2018, 05:31:24 PM
Here’s a project I did over Xmas. I’m posting it here to show you guys that are able to ride at this time of year what we have to do to entertain ourselves in the North Country  until our water becomes liquid again. I’m going to post the pic for you to guess what it is and it’s purpose. I’ll post more pics later to show the answer. Who will be the first  Guzzi hero to guess the correct answer?

I had a couple guesses but they were pretty rude for a family list, so I'll have to pass ...

Mr Obvious says trailer steering apparatus.

Why would you need to "steer" a trailer?   Don't they sort of go where the tow vehicle goes?

Duh. You can hook your garden tractor up and drive your trailer into the trailer garage with it.

Naw, it's a towable pit-stand for the trailer.  You tip it way up in front, engage the ball in the trailer tongue, and lever the trailer tongue up by pulling down on the pit-stand tongue.  Although levering is the primary task of the pit-stand tongue, putting the hitch business on the end lets you tow it around the back 40 to where the stupid trailer got all downwind and low, and lets you power-wrangle it into an accessible position with the double-jointedness of it all.  My trike would be the perfect tug!  (now you got some Guzzi content   )

Or maybe something else.   :boozing:

The fact that it has an oscillating perambulating triple nipple back shackle on it suggests to me that it is the gizmo part of a whozzix.

Slopoke was on track,Rodekylls observation about leverage didn’t occur to me until I used it a couple times. Foto being from the Land of Lake Woebegone nailed it.

It’s a dolly for the fish house made necessary by my antiquated Polaris Sportsman, which has the guts to move it but due to the tongue weight of the fish house the independent suspension of the four wheeler bottomed out, which made the front tires of the four wheeler almost ineffective.
The dolly has adjustable hitch moving horizontally and vertically to allow changes in load.

Typically Guzzi  I saw a couple at welder shops, and Norther tool, but I decided to save money and make it myself, ok quit laughing you all know I probably spent $100.00 more making it than $260.00 they cost, and you’d be right. But I had fun making it.

The hitch that attaches to the four wheeler is 2 inch, the ball on the Dolly can be any size that screws into the nut 7/8 or 3/4 standard nut welded inside the support, I can’t remember now.
