I have been working on this for the past couple of months, and am happy to share my results with you. There is a flyer and write up in the newsletter this month (March) and here is the flyer for your consumption and enjoyment. The resort is spectacular, the area is gorgeous and the roads..........oh the roads!!!
First Bi-Annual Moto Guzzi
Utah Get-Together, N.A.R.
When: Thursday, September 6th-Sunday, September 9th 2018
Where: The beautiful MidwayValley in Northern Utah.
Host: Roy Shadbolt, rshadbolt@msn.com 801-589-4725
The fantastic Zermatt Resort will be the base of operations. We will be able to reserve a room for $139 per night plus tax (resort fees are being waived). You may reserve either a King single room, or a double Queen room. The new link has arrived!
https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/trademark/midway-utah/zermatt-utah-resort-and-spa/rooms-rates?checkin_date=9/6/2018&checkout_date=9/9/2018&group_code=10K4LM
Camping: I have reserved the Springer-Hollow Group site for those interested in camping for Friday and Saturday night. If there is sufficient interest I will reserve for Thursday night also.
WasatchMountainStat e Park, Pine Creek campground. https://stateparks.utah.gov/parks/wasatch-mountain/
There will be a fun ride available on Friday. About 120 miles.
There will be 2 group rides available to participate in on Saturday.
1. Will be up Chalk Creek Rd, to Evanston, then over Mirror Lake Highway and back to Midway thru Kamas. Approx 200 miles.
2. A dirt/street ride for those so inclined, that will include about 50 miles of easy dirt road (part of the Utah BDR) total about 150 miles.

On my calendar! Looking forward to it... :thumb:

One suggestion I have made, is that your significant other fly in to SLC, then either you can pick them up, or they can rent a car, UBER, or perhaps even a shuttle up to the resort. The resort has a day spa, and the area has many nice amenities to be enjoyed. That way they don't have to ride along on your trusty steed, but they can still participate in the area. Just a thought.
-
I am planing on checking in,in Sept. as long as I dont check out before then(Fubar humor) sign me up for Thursday nite/camping :weiner:on the other hand a UTAH state road map would be nice when I get there :thumb:
-
I will have some maps available for everyone that wants to have one. The area has many roads to travel on, most are rated pretty high on the Butler Maps. I now have 2 confirmed for Thursday night, I will keep an eye on it and let everyone know about the group site for Thursday.
Thanks for your response.

Cool beans. I will have to keep my calendar open.

This is what I'm looking at for Friday Saturday at the moment, 2 tents
Actually can you tell us about the proximity of the campsite to the resort, will there be intermingling?
Can someone post an overview map?
Roy

Do you know what the accommodations are like in th campground? Real showers, running water, etc.? I’ve become a wimp. The resort looks very nice.

It is approximately 2 miles from the resort to the campsite, and there damn well better be some intermingling!
I will see what I can do about a map of the area, but the road between is through a golf course for part of it.
The resort is very nice, and 2 guys sharing a room is about $70 a night plus taxes............pr etty cheap for this place.
-
Any idea what the split will be, too early to tell?
-
To early to tell. I'm into it $200, so if there's 10 tat would be $20 each.
-
I will be tent camping, probably arriving Thursday afternoon.
-
And Dan makes, 3 for Thursday. I will wait a little while, but I'm fairly certain I will book the spot for Thursday night also. Thanks for letting me know.

After attending the NAR that JJ organized for Cottonwood, I am super pumped for the get together here in Utah for September. I met some wonderful folks in Cottowood as well as reacquainting with some of the fine people I have had the good fortune to meet at other events.
Let's DO this!
-
Coming out from Northern California Hwy 50 would be an interesting route. I wonder how the gas stations are along 50. Both my guzzi's hit the reserve at around 150 miles.
-
Really looking forward to this! Thanks for all your hard work putting it together
Now if it was just happening THIS WEEKEND!!!!!

That is a great idea, you can easily do it. I believe the longest stretch is about 120 miles, from Fallon to Austin. The road is fun, and way better than slabbing along on I-80. My friend and I went this way to Pierre's Big Basin Redwoods event last summer, he was on a VERY thirsty Honda Valkerie, 6 carbs we were hustling along pretty good and he was getting in the low 20's. My big Stella with the 8.5 gallon tank just laughs at such things!
Be very mindful of your speed coming into and leaving some of the smaller towns along the way, the local LEO, like their revenue generating to be done by outsiders. The pass to the east of Austin is really pretty as is the one coming into Ely.

Unfortunately, I will be in Santa Fe / Taos during those dates with the wife, so maybe another year (?)

Utrider, do you know the Road Island Diner in Oakley, UT?
As a matter of fact I do, quite a bit about it actually. My daughter's high school Volleyball coach is from the town in Connecticut it came out of, and when we played the school up in Oakley we would stop in after the game for a meal, and to hear stories about the place.
So cool you know about it, what's your affiliation with it?
-
We were 'gifted' a box of old AAA travel magazines and I went through them looking for stuff on Utah...looks like a cool place for lunch!
-
It sure could be a great place to stop for lunch, depending on the timing. I actually hadn't intended to go by it on Saturday, but it would be pretty early if we do. Looking through those magazines is a great idea!
-
Please use your own best judgement on the ride(s) planning....I am retired and can eat there whenever I choose...

Love that area. I've got in penciled in. :thumb: :thumb:

Make it so.........lol It will be a good bit cooler than Apache Junction.
I bought my Stelvio in Chandler, and rode home in the middle of August. Rode over Skutumpah road from Hwy 89 to Hwy 12 as a dirt test. Great ride! I came up through Payson, Happy Jack and in to Flagstaff that way on the advice of my friend from down there. It was perfect. I came over Jacob Lake and into Kanab that way, then up the Johnson Canyon to Skutumpah as mentioned.
Look forward to meeting you. Were you in Cottonwood a couple of weeks ago?

I’m still thinking about leaving Denver Wednesday afternoon, spending night in Glenwood, Utah by mid afternoon Thursday. Any interest? Don’t know how far in advance we’d need reservations at the hot springs.

My fine Guzzista, I am working on getting us a tour of this. Most likely would have to be on Friday's ride. Ran into a fellow here the other day, and he said "humm Moto Guzzi, huh. I saw one the other day at this museum, it was a 3 wheel tractor thing"...............I immediately pursued more information, and came up with this. I have a message out to the web folks and hope to have it confirmed shortly.

Looks like he has a few other interesting things in the collection, some of it may be of interest some...........prob ably not.

Many of you may know Doug Easton. I rode up to his place in Evanston last week and hand delivered a flyer to him. He doesn't do electronic communications, he and his lovely wife are planning on being in attendance and they were very familiar with the Richard Erickson Foundation and had attended several of his events. A little over 2 months away!
The MGNOC newsletter has a bad link in it for the accommodations at the resort. Frank knows about it and will correct it for next months issue.
The link in the first post in this thread works and is accurate.

Is there anything else we have to sign up for?

Yup ………….. the two Canadians will be residing there for Fri and Sat night. :thumb:
Was wondering if any of you might have a suggested route or routes from Vancouver that might be interesting …….. we will be on Stelvios.
Ciao
-
My apologies folks, I have been on the California touring the Oregon Coast and Crater Lake area.
Ok, I have the spots reserved at the campsite, I would like to get a "good" head count as to how many are planning on camping. So, no you don't need to book with the campground, but I do need a solid head count, as I may need to get a bigger spot!
It is my understanding that the resort is sold out for the event! Which is both good and bad, I reserved 12 nights worth of rooms I had to pre-pay for them and didn't want to over commit myself, having never done this before. (Each room for each night is considered a room night) So, the Homestead Resort is across the street and is beautiful also. Their number is 1-800-327-7220, I know a gentleman and his crew from British Columbia were booking there.
I am working on getting the tour set up also, but have not heard back from them as of yet.

There are a bunch of great ways to come down, depends on how much dirt you want and how much time you want to take. I'm assuming you mean Vancouver, BC and not Vancouver, Wa.......
Through Oregon, has a bunch of great roads as well as some pretty good dirt. The biggest challenge in my opinion is tying South East Oregon to Utah without getting into some pretty remote territory. The Stelvio is great at being able to cover a lot of distance, but some of the area has some pretty intense roads that the big girl might be a handful to dance with on. If you want all pavement, but minimal slab there are some nice alternatives, but the same area just does not have a lot of roads through it.

There is no official sign up, this is Not A Rally, so just getting together. Please come and enjoy the area and company.
I just need a good head count on the camping so I know if I need to get a bigger site. I am actually pleasantly surprised that the resort is sold out for us and will tie up more rooms in the future.
I'm new to this, so please bare with me, I do want it to be a great time and just need to figure some of the details out a bit.
Thanks,
Roy

That may work for me, coming from Niwot (Longmont). And gosh, I know we have met somewhere along the way (Ouray last year?).
I am tentatively planning to camp. Are reservations needed for camping?

Alanp - my plan would be to leave the courthouse in Black Hawk on Wednesday the sixth by 4:00 p.m., which should put me in Glenwood by 7:00 or so. I am thinking of staying at the Colorado Hotel, which is next to the hot springs. Any Colorado riders interested? I will make the Colorado Hotel reservations in the next week or so.

I do not. I am going to ride up there on Monday, and discuss the situation with them, and check in at the campground as well. I believe the camping is at or near capacity for their guidelines, I just want to see what kind of options we have available.

If any one has a room and going "single" and want to share I would be happy to do so. Please pm me.
I am good with camping also but need electricity. Is that possible? There are sites with it, but do not know if the reservation covers those.
Thanks.

If you have tried to book a room from the provided link for Zermatt you may have not been able to because of being sold out. The good news is there are now 6 rooms available for Friday and Saturday nights and 2 more for Thursday. If you're not able to book a room let me know and I will get some more.

Alan, and everyone else who will be camping. The campground is tied up for us Thursday night thru Sunday. There are a total of 11 showers available between 2 different buildings at the campground. The 8 tent pads are for fairly large tents, and if we are aware we can easily double up with the smaller tents motorcycles use.
-
I will be arriving to camp on Thursday and my tent is small... :thumb:

Just got off the phone with the "Richard Erickson Museum" folks. They will not be available for our event. While I was in the area yesterday I went up to the property, we will tie it in at another event.
I went on most of the Friday loop yesterday. The roads are in good condition and the wildlife was out in full effect. Saw a Bull Moose on my way down the Timpanogos side of the Alpine Loop, and more Deer than I care to see. It looks like they have changed a part of the road over the Highland-Draper area and traffic lights will be minimal for us.
We will most likely do the loop clockwise so as to avoid having to make a left hand turn across a 65 mph highway.

Do you have a count on campers yet? It's says the group site is $150 a night. We'll obviously be splitting the cost, but if there only a few of us it would be pretty expensive. Single campsites might make more sense then.
Time I suppose for people to start confirming their attendance

It is actually a $100 per night, I have 3 nights reserved. There is a $100 cleaning deposit, that is refundable as long as the place isn't trashed. I would like to get a solid head count. There are a few people who have let me know they will be there, that are through the MGNOC or ADVrider and not on here.
As near as I can tell there are approximately 10 campers who have expressed a desire, and most of them are for all 3 nights.

I plan on camping all 3 nights.

Quick note to Utrider. You might want to go back to the your original post listing and change the message Icon to "rally information" That way you get the cool little campfire icon which lets people know at a glance that the topic is about a rally. I believe as the rally time gets closer you also get a permanent spot at the top of the discussion board until the rally occurs.

Just checked in with the folks at Zermatt. They would like to have this tied down in the next 2 weeks, so if you want to take advantage of the rooms available please do so as soon as possible.
A month left, hopefully the wildfires will be tamped down by then. The sky is smoky/hazy here.

I'm in at the resort Thursday - Sunday, at the Colorado Hotel in Glenwood Springs Wednesday night. Anyone leaving from Grand Junction Thursday morning? i would meet you at an I70 exit in Grand Junction. For anyone leaving from Denver - there are still a few rooms left at the Colorado Hotel in Glenwood for Wednesday night. it's five minutes from the hot springs.

I believe the Zeramatt will have some rooms available, just call them when you know for sure you will be coming. Mention you are with the Moto Guzzi group and see what they can do. You may consider booking the room, and if you can't make it just cancelling it.
-
Count me in as another Canadian camper for three nights.

Wow, well it looks like we're gonna have a good turnout. As you guys come in to set up your camp, I don't know the etiquette, but if you could set up so that others can pitch in around you fairly easily that would be very helpful, based on the numbers I'm seeing........

(https://thumb.ibb.co/hzCh7e/20180816_133121.jpg) (https://ibb.co/hzCh7e)
I took a ride on the "off road" route yesterday. All of the roads are in good to recently repaved condition. The dirt sections are in good shape and there is no damage from the wildfires that I could find.
This will be an alternative route for those who are interested on Saturday. It totaled 162 miles round trip from the Zermatt Resort, of which a little over 40 of it is on dirt. There is gas available about 90 miles in. For those of us on late model Stelvio's we laugh at such things, but I know it can be a concern. The dirt is very easy, and I saw several passenger cars on it in various places. The biggest challenge will be this is on a Saturday, and a lot of folks will be out and about on their ATV/UTV's and those things throw up a hell of a lot of dust.
Less than a month to go, everything looks to be in good shape, and I look forward to meeting you all!
-
As far as meals go...... I was going to be very informal, there are many options available either at the resort or in nearby Heber City.
I am planning on eating at the BBQ/Smokehouse at the resort for Friday night, good food, reasonable prices and handy. Not sure what people are thinking for breakfast, probably ride into Heber City, and gas up as well.
For Saturday night, the resort has a VERY nice buffet they have offered to us. However, it's $26 a plate which is indeed pretty spendy. I'm looking into alternatives, and since this is a NAR event, there is no expectation that we dine together.
I would suggest that those who would like to join on the rides gather at 10 am, and we plan on being kickstands up with full tanks of fuel at 10:15. I will have maps available for those interested in meandering at their own pace. I normally ride a pretty spirited pace, but have every intention of backing it down.
As has been mentioned before, this is my first shot at doing something like this, and many of you have reached out to me with suggestions and such, which I am very appreciative of. If you have ideas and concerns that haven't been addressed please don't hesitate to reach out to me either here on pm, email or phone. I'm pretty accessible.
I will be riding the other ride available for Saturday, between now and then, just to verify the condition of the roads and distances.
-
Just wanted to provide you with a perspective of the the area. The Zermatt Resort is on Highway 222, on the Northwest end of Midway, Utah. Wasatch Mountain State Park is 2 miles north, you go through a golf course that runs between them.
Heber City, is about 5 miles to the East. There are many fuel, grocery and food places available in Heber City.
https://www.google.com/maps/@40.5298776,-111.4802592,14z
Hopefully, this will give you some perspective. I know I like to have an idea of what's around when I travel to a new place.
-
Bump. Its almost here. Thanks Roy for organizing!
-
The hotel is apparently full. Anyone want t o share a room and expenses?
-
So we'll be approaching from the North avoiding Salt Lake and major highways, I'm a bit confused how/where we will connect to 222, the map doesn't seem to have any major connectors
Never mind I guess we head for downtown Midway and shoot up river Road looking for signs to the park
https://www.google.com/maps/@40.5298776,-111.4802592,14z
Really looking forward to this, looks like JD and I will be together.

Coming from the north, you may want to take the Interstate 84, off of I-15, and go up Weber Canyon, then get off at Morgan. Take 66 up past East Canyon, then right onto 65. 65 to I-80 in Parleys Canyon is a BLAST! You avoid Salt Lake, and get some fun twisty bits. You can take 224 through Park City, and up and over Empire Pass. Take a sharp left on the south side of the pass, and you are on 222. Take it real easy on this part of 222, the corners are super fun, low speed, but there is other traffic and here in Utah a lot of folks think their half of the road means cutting the corner........

Well, as this draws near I am now getting serious about preparation and have what may be a stupid question; after about 30 minutes of searching and using the links provided by Roy in the opening post, I am completely unable to find the Springer-Hollow Group campground. Apparently other people found it, but there doesn't seem to be any mention of it on the State Park website and google doesn't help???

Alan, if you zoom in on the 2nd map in the above post, look at Wasatch Mountain State Park. The park itself extends to the North, you should see the route 222 marker. The loops are a bit north of the Zermatt, on the other side of the golf course. If you zoom in on the campground itself, you will see the loops.

For Saturday night, I am considering doing Brats and potato salad at the campground. Eating as a group, I just want to make sure everyone gets together and is having a good time.
Open to ideas.......
-
That sounds great! Beer and brats are essential motorcycle road food...
-
Great idea Roy, sounds good!

A friendly reminder to all of my out of town guests. Utah has some funky alcohol laws, and in the grocery store you will find 3.2 alcohol content beer. If you want full strength beer you can get it at the state run liquor stores. There is one in Heber City, and also Park City.
https://www.google.com/maps/search/uta+state+liquor+store+heber+city/@40.5645105,-111.4736622,12z
I will also have a vehicle available as a "shuttle" to get people back and forth if needed. Don't need no one having no accidents or incidents with the local law.....
-
For those of you coming from the east, I might suggest on your way in or your way out depending on the time available a couple of beautiful, fun alternate routes.
If you get to Duchesne on Hwy 40 take hwy 87 north to hwy 35. This goes over Utah's Wolf Creek pass, and is a beautiful scenic road. It will drop you off in Francis, and you can just ride down to Hwy 40 and across to River Rd in Heber City.
Another alternative, and certainly a lot more time consuming is 191 north out of Vernal, to either 44 if you are headed west, or stay on 191 through Rock Springs if headed east. I do day rides out 35 to 191 and up to 44 and it is always beautiful.
Full disclosure, once you get to Wyoming.........wel l it's Wyoming and not the pretty part.
-
This is coming together nicely , good job Roy

Have fun!!

Just a simple question.
Are we likely to be effected by wildfires?
-
I just wanted to say, if any one has 7inch headlight bucket from any make moto please bring it along.Im not havin much luck finding one here in Nebraska
-
Fubar - if your trip west, takes you through Colorado Springs, I have a stock headlight shell from a 96 Cali. You're welcome to it.
-
Mr Bum,thank you for your most generous offer :bow:looking at the map that would take a lot of jugglin + travlin over roads Ive driven many times-----would you consider mailing it to me,Ill send you $20!
Thank you Fubar :boozing:

1 week to go!
I took a quick blast up to Beartooth Pass this week, WOW what a road! I did Chief Joseph Highway out of Cody then up over Beartooth to Red Lodge. It had snowed on Monday, and when I crested the summit it was 30 degrees at noon on Tuesday.

I live in Paonia, so I will be passing through Grand Junction Thursday morning. :)
-
I'm leaving from Highline Lake State Park in Loma, CO on Thursday morning early...

I'm leaving from Highline Lake State Park in Loma, CO on Thursday morning early...
I'll be going right by Highline on Hwy 139, but it won't be until 9:30 to 10:00. Leaving from Paonia about 8AM
-
Alanp and I are planning on leaving Glenwood Thursday morning and getting off I70 at Rifle to pick up Hwy 40. Does that fit anyone else’s plan?
-

I'm leaving Wednesday - probable route: Poudre Canyon, US 40 to Maybell, CO 318 to Browns Park, Camp at Swinging Bridge.
Thursday: continue on Browns Park Road to US 191, south towards Vernal. I'll probably avoid US 40 and take local highways: Utah 121, Utah 87. Will take Utah 35 to Francis and then Utah 32 and River Road to the campground.
So, I'll be in the neighborhood. See you at the campground?

Have any of you been on Ut 45 from Dragon,Ut to Mack, Co? That looks like an interesting route. I really like Douglas Pass on 139.
Dan, that route on 318 looks great! I don't think we're supposed to have much bad weather between now and then, so the dirt shouldn't be an issue and you get to hit 191.
-
Kiwi Roy and I will be coming in from the north (Canada) through Evanston UT, and I was hoping that State Route 150 up over Bald Mountain and Provo was open. It goes from Evanston straight through to Kamas. The maps indicate portions are "closed in winter"; anyone know its condition? Likely cold, I guess, but should we go the long way round, or take this more interesting route.
Thanks

That is Mirror Lake Highway, it is part of the route that the street only guys will be taking on Saturday. The road is open and it's pretty damn pretty. Should be a little brisk going over Bald Mtn but to my knowledge there hasn't been any snow that has stuck up there,.........yet.
If you are going by Bear Lake then heading south on Ut 16, you may want to consider taking a right on 39 at Woodruff, this will take you over Monte Cristo and down a great stretch of road. Hang a left at the first stop sign you come to in Huntsville then go over Trappers Loop (167) this will drop you in Weber Canyon just a stones throw from Morgan and route 66 to 65. I only mention this, because the ride from where you turn off of highway 30 to Ut 16 ALL THE WAY to the Utah border and beyond a bit on 150, is......well not the pretty part of Wyoming or Utah for that matter.
-
Just took a look at the longer term weather guess. Looks great! Mid 80's during the day and Mid 50's at night. As of now, not much of a chance for rain (knock on wood)

I don't know where Ut 45 and Dragon, Ut are. I have ridden Old US Hwy 6 several times, from I-70, Exit 227 in Utah, to Mack, CO. In Utah it is County Road 193 on my map. The Utah section is in poor shape, but rideable. The Colorado part is in good condition.
Colo 318 from Maybell to the Utah border is paved - it's old pavement, but in decent shape. When you cross the border it was gravel for seven miles, but that was paved recently. There still is a two mile section of gravel. My maps call the Utah section Browns Park Road. The western end of it is actually in Wyoming.

Thanks Dan, I knew you would know if anyone did. Dragon is South of 40 in Utah real close to the Colorado border. I would put it about 80 to a 100 miles south. On this map it Ut 45 goes to it, but the routes in Colorado are marked like forest service roads. It also looks like there's a route over to 139 between Rangely and the northside of Douglas Pass.
I will have to do a scouting mission out there and hit that 318 Browns Canyon area while I'm at it!

OK, I found Dragon. My go-to maps are the Benchmark Map books, in this case Utah and Colorado. This is what I see:
Following Utah 45 from Vernal/Naples south to the White River. Two miles or so after crossing the White take a left on Dragon Road (unpaved, not indicated as 4WD). 3 or 4 miles after Dragon you cross into Colorado. Becomes County Road 25 in Rio Blanco County, with a note "Caution: Remote rough road", but not indicated as 4WD. When you get into Garfield County it becomes Cty Rd 201 and is known as Baxter Pass Road. It crosses Baxter Pass, Elev. 8422. The Utah book shows a Douglas pass on a 4WD road about two miles from Baxter Pass, but it is not the Douglas Pass on Colo 139. 201 continues south to the vacinity of Mack, CO.
There are a lot of "Other Roads" on the maps in this area. It is mostly BLM land. Perhaps they have maps, I had gotten them for other areas. This one is not much help: https://www.blm.gov/sites/blm.gov/files/documents/files/Douglas%20Pass_2009.pdf
Looking at the map south of US Hwy 40 there is a fair amount of pavement north of the White River: Red Wash Hwy, Red Was Camp Road. Old Bonanza Hwy, Glen Bench Rd, Chipeta Wells Rd, Utah Hwy 88 and Ouray Nat Wildlife Refuge. What is the terrain? Open desert/grassland with lots of washes? What are the rules about traveling in that area; it looks like it is mostly Indian Reservation.
-
For those of us who won't be there until Friday morning, is there a suggested meeting spot and time, to join in on the ride?
-
Mike, yes. I want to meet at the Zermatt resort at 10 am. With full tanks of fuel. Then leave the Zermatt at 10:15 am. I have found a spot for lunch for those who are interested, it's about 2/3rds of the way through the ride. I would also like to do the same arrangement for Saturday's ride, meet at 10 am, full of fuel and leave at 10:15 for both of the rides.
I am printing up some maps, and some info flyers about the times and what not. I will leave a bunch of them at the campground and have them available at the resort as well.
I will be up there early Thursday afternoon, to answer questions and get everyone up to speed. If you are coming from the Utah area and not staying at either the resort or the campground, please feel free to contact me either through my cell phone: 801-589-4725 or my personal email: rshadbolt@msn.com
Thanks to all who have reached out to me and I look forward to meeting and sharing the experience with you!

Ok folks, tomorrow is the first day for arrivals! If you are staying at the campground, when you come in let them know you are with the Moto Guzzi Group in the Springer Hollow Group site.
As mentioned before there are 8 tent pads, please arrange your tents so we can get more than one tent on each pad. As near as I can tell there are about 12-15 campers. I will drop off a cooler with some water and ice in it. There is running water at the campground as well as showers and power.
I am staying at the Zermatt Resort, it is 2 miles south of the campground. My cell phone is 801-589-4725, my name is Roy Shadbolt. If you need something let me know. I will be wearing a safety green shirt with my name on the front and a Moto Guzzi logo on the back. If you should have a mechanical issue, I will have a truck and an enclosed trailer there to help out.
Thanks again for all of the assistance and participation in this event...........
LET'S DO THIS!!!

Fubar, sorry to hear about this. My Dad is the World's biggest non-Nebraska resident Cornhusker fan. We waited all night for the game to get started on Saturday night and saw the weather your area was dealing with. Good luck!
My Dad is from the Pender, NE area, his brother was the mayor there for quite a while.

I'm here. There's a sign at the entrance to the campsite. It's about 50 yards on the right, past the entrance.

Back in Denver from the Utah NAR. Roy did a terrific job putting it all together, and I think everyone had a great time. After 9 1/2 hours on my V11 LeMans to get home today, though, I am thinking that I need to buy something more comfortable before the next one. Maybe I am too old.
-
Made it home Sunday morning. !700 miles this weekend and didn't even go on the Saturday ride due to bad case of allergy etc. It was really nice meeting the people I did, sorry I didn't get a chance to chat with everybody. I think the only thing to change s to have Roy organise a meet like this for picturesque north AZ. thanks Roy and company :thumb:

I want to thank all of those who attended the event here in Utah. I will post up some of the pictures I have in a bit.
Warren, thank you for letting us know you returned home safely, you were certainly on our minds.
The turnout was great for a first event, we had attendees from British Columbia, California, Idaho, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma and even a few from here in Utah.
Ages ranged from mid 20's to the 70's I would guess, and everything in between.
Thanks again folks, we will do it again!
-
Michelle and I are sorry that we missed this. Sounds like a good time was had by all. Good job on pulling this off, Roy!

Thanks again to all who have chimed in with their thoughts. I'm truly humbled and look forward to the next time.

I arrived home safely about 6:30 this evening.
Dale and his Brother arrived yesterday
I called in to see JD on the way, he should be out of Hospital in a day or so.
Thanks a lot Roy for the great event.

Yup.. good job Roy and the Misses.
Weather was good all the way except for the colossal downpour for about 20 min just east of Seattle.
Beautiful ride/s.
Till next time...oh and Roy I will get you some pics as soon as I can get my iPhone to play nice.

First I want to apologize for this ridiculously late post. It's take me a bit to get to selecting and editing the photos my wife took while riding. I also got "side tracked" with a 5 day NorCal Lost Coast ride/camping trip I did 2 weeks after this Rally.
Anyway, I want to thank Roy and anybody else who was a part of putting this event together, leading rides, etc. My wife and I had a blast for sure! We really enjoyed it all, the location, the group, the routes, and the Zermatt Resort. I'm glad there was a group dinner on Saturday, that was a nice touch.
I'm not going to post all the pix here, too many. I'll post a sampling and the link to them on my SmugMug acct.

WOW! Thanks Dan, those pics are great! I sometimes forget how pretty that road over Mirror Lake Highway is. Thanks for taking the time and effort to post those up.

You're more than welcome Roy. Thanks again for putting this event on.
I just wish I'd gotten the pix posted up in a more timely manner. That's about 1/3 of the pix my wife took.
I just got swamped with final route planning and doing the Lost Coast ride (5 guys, 5 days for me ~1,750 miles) then coming back to piles of work.....
