Very nice Laverda SFC asking big money - $59,000.00

Thanks for posting SFC one of my all time favorite bikes

I've never seen a real one but sat on an SFC replica and a Jota, both were way heavier than I thought they would be

The top one is a real beauty indeed.

But - $59,000????? There are certain items that we may love but need to leave our desires behind. Learn to love another - LOL

I had an orange 1975 Laverda SF 750 back in the 80's.  It was a beast....sold it for $3,800....

I really need to win the LOTTERY...and then, $59,000 would not be an issue!!

I think that's what the sellers of these bikes are doing ... looking for a lottery winner.   I've always liked those bikes and heard good things about them, especially for Italian bikes.

In the long term, no harm done.   The current owner can continue to enjoy owning it, and someday there's this thing called an "estate auction" where it sells at market value!

Hiya Ron! I just thought of the nicest V11S (greenie) for sale in the country. It's been maintained by a V11 whisperer, and has many very nice mods. $5500 and worth it if you are interested.

The seller is throwing a Hail Mary, hoping the saying “there’s a sucker born every minute” will get him the money. Who knows, he may get lucky.

This fine example SOLD for $9900 in Vegas in January...(CMV - Current Market Value) - IMHO

I might have bid on it if it was ORANGE, but it was red.  Still, it was a very nice one!! (Like I had...)

$9900 for a very nice SF2 is a fair price, now if it were orange ....

The thing is there is a world of difference between a true SFC and SF or SFC rep

The former as I recall had a tuned and blueprinted engine and was made in limited numbers

This looks like the same bike

https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/23131/lot/85/?category=list (https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/23131/lot/85/?category=list)

I did a quick Google and GBP between 40-50k seems to be what they go for (roughly 60-70 USD), so I don't think that's a wild price for what it is.

You guys may not think these bikes are worth that amount of money but the classic market for iconic machines that are only available in limited numbers is a world frequented by people with VERY deep pockets.

Look at cars, watches and all the other stuff, these things are assets and bought and sold as investments.

Some may decry that, but it is nice to know these machines will be around for a long long time to come, their value assures they will be looked after lovingly for generations to come.

Agreed, the asking price for the SFC is the going rate these days. Hand built, very few made, racing provenance, and gorgeous, just like the real 72' red chrome moly V7 Sport, a real nice V7 Sport may reach $20K but a documented Telaia Rosso is probably brining in over $50K or more. The Laverda's have a much bigger following in the UK and Europe and they command big money.

This is exactly like the 750 SF I had in the 80's except mine had a dual seat.  Would LOVE to own another one someday....but a sorted, restored, or excellent original example.  No more project bikes for me! :thumb: :1:

Hi JJ

Did your SF1 have dual discs as well? Mine is definitely a SF1 and by all accounts it appears to have come from the factory with the dual discs, but the dual or single disc should not have officially been standard until he release of the SF2. I have found two other SF1 owners that have either a single or dual disc front end and I am trying to confirm if this was a factory anomaly. Production of the SF1 / SF2 was sporadic in 73 and there is documented overlap of both SF1 and SF2 at the same time in the factory as Laverda was introducing the 3C triple and moving to a new factory at this time.

Thanks

Jim

Mine had dual discs, as I recall and it was a 1975 example, 750cc SF twin.

I really wanted to buy the '84 RGA Jota that was on offer at Fred Heistand Motors in Manheim, PA back in '86. But, a) I could barely reach the ground, and b) it was very top heavy.  IIRC, it would have cost me almost exactly the same as the Le Mans 1000 I bought instead.

Looked almost exactly like this one, except the wheels were silver.

Always thought the Jota had a really nice aggressive look.

A guy on the Tattley Rappet Guzzi rally had a (I think) 1200 Laverda that had starter motor problems. He was saying some guy overseas had bought up basically all the spares and was busy screwing everyone who needed them. He just could not afford the part he needed.

That's a shame.

Wolfgang Haerter in Canada at Columbia Car and Cycle in Nakusp, British Columbia has a massive inventory of Laverda twin and triple parts and what he does not stock he can get. I saw his warehouse this summer and its a site to see, new gas tanks, side panels, exhaust, trim, instruments, carbs, electrical, rubber items you name it he has it. I was pleasantly surprised to find he had everything I needed to restore my 73 SF1 twin and his prices are very low in my opinion compared to Guzzi parts and much less than a Ducati part.

If any one is considering a Laverda purchase and in need of parts or service, Wolfgang is the go to guy, he ships world wide.
