wow never seen so many in one place . Price is very good but somehow still they do not sell.......
I guess i will wait when the price will drop even more LOL
Now jokes aside , seen this kind of hurts , but i thought that by now in guzzi they would have learned a few things ?
They keep producing motorcycle that not everyone "gets "

While I absolutely love my x21, I think what may have been a thorn in the foot as far as sales goes is the lack of color options. It would have been cool to offer red, silver, orange, two-tone, etc.
-
16K is a great price on a FF MGX 21 ! It surely is a sign that big bagger sales are "soft" to say the least.
Thats alot of bike for the money! If you were to buy a comparable HD, you would pay quite a bit more......But then again, what is a "real" warranty, and dealer/parts network worth? Guzzi needs to pick up on its advertising, and more than anything dealer network if the want to sell bikes.
its a darn shame too, as these are awesome bikes.

Keep in mind this is the new dual location North Jersey (Wayne, just a bit out of NYC) AND Eastern PA (West Chester) dealer who supposedly has some sort of in with the Piaggio NA guys in NYC. They have a warehouse full of press, demo fleet, loaner bikes they took in this winter. So this might represent a large amount of Piaggio NA unsold inventory.
Look at all those Stornello's too.

Well, I paid only $16k for my 1 year leftover RK last year. Now it's a detachable windshield instead of the fairing, but brembos, ABS, cruise control etc. so largely comparable.
I'd say the bagger market sure is soft, though Harley is still managing to move em to the tune of 99,745 units in 2017.

I like the bike don’t get me wrong, and if the price keep going down... I might going to get one.
But how many did they sell ? Does anyone have a real number?
Not those that were registered for the press etc. But how many riders really bought one?
Guzzi invested so much into a project that unfortunately will not sell much...
Now they should invest into a sport motorcycle and see how it goes.....
Then make a comparison and let the sale numbers decide if Guzzi should focus more on cruisers or sports.
And ADV is coming.... will see how it goes.
And yes , I agreed with Luap that more color choices might have sold some more motorcycles.
I have seen pictures of a white one ( a guy repainted it on his own ) and it was very good looking.

People "get it"... they just don't "want it".
Anyone on this continent in that market, with the kind of money needed... is looking at Harley if they want style (and a Massive aftermarket for customization), Honda if they want a proven track record.
Guzzisti are Guzzisti. They like the bikes, but they already have one or more of them. Not a lot of people are brand jumping to Guzzi, and certainly not at the high end of the market.

AF1 Racing in Austin has a 2017 MGX-21 with 3,400 miles for $12,999...

Fwiw I've seen them come up more frequently in conversation with other riders than I thought, including Harley guys.
I think there were a number of mentions in both the Bagger and What Bike Do I Want Today threads on ADV.
-
I confess when I saw a picture of one, my first thought was, "Oh, Luap...what have you done??"
BUT
when I saw Luap's bike in person and flying in formation, my first thought was, "Luap, you did good!!"
I agree about the need to offer color choices, especially RED!

I chalk that up to a modern world with focused marketing (social media). I guess I figure if people "wanted it", they'd buy it... seems silly to try and deflect by saying people "don't get it".

I don't see myself as a cruiser rider, but if I was (were?,) this would be the 1400 I'd want. Very classy machine to me.

Red Eldo for me.

Blue. With blue carbon/kevlar panels.
That would be cool.
But yeah. I'm not too hip on the flat black thing. Guzzi has been doing it for fifteen years, since the California Stone of 2003. It's been done to death.

I'm funny.... Yeah I know.
But I love the black, on certain parts, meaning everything BUT the tins.
If the tank, fenders, and fairing were blue with all that other black then damn!
But the Eldo is pretty too.

Yeah. Black cycle parts are cool. The tins need color.
I'd be all for a blue Eldo, too. Well, as long as the fenders aren't black!
The black fenders have been done to death, too.

Screw it , can you plate chrome onto Carbon fiber ?
Dusty

I was keen on one of these but here they are around $32K AUD..some colours and chrome would have been better.

I thought at the time and still think that Guzzi was making a mistake by going after the big cruiser/Harley market. Most people that buy them don't even know that Guzzi exists. My nephew Ricky does know about Guzzi, but he's a Harley guy and gave me the  when I asked if he was interested..

A long running routine shared with a couple of friends goes like this . When a couple of HD riders approach asking what the heck our funny looking motorbikes are , we act nonplussed and start asking about their HD's . "What is that , is that a Japanese bike , hey Hoyt , have you ever seen one of these Harley things before ?" Usually this results in some laughter , or blank stares , but one time a couple of guys got agitated , so we had to really continue with the routine , fortunately "Hoyt" is a good actor

I'm not sure if I ever posted this here. But when Indian came out with the Dark Horse I had the same idea and quickly photoshopped a few as proof of concept:

If Indian had been smart enough to do that, I might not have an RK right now. Same with Guzzi and the MG or more importantly the Eldo.
-
Looks nice, but... I honestly can't find much fault with the latest Indian Chief at all. That's one *seriously* pretty engine. The entire bike is just... really damn nice.

I'd be all about a Springfield Dark Horse with glassy blue or red tins!

Same problem with the color of the tins/bags etc.
For some reason I find it more acceptable that a $8k new smallblock might need a repaint of some parts, but not so on a Cali 1400.

Repaint blue on the "accent" parts instead of red the tasteful blue pinstripes.
