Title: Motorcycle friendly little dive bar in Scottsdale, AZ
Post by: JJ on March 14, 2018, 12:43:34 PM
The infamous and legendary TT Roadhouse on 68th Street / Thomas Road.  Met some of my local, motorcycle buds there last night, who go there regularly every Tuesday evening around 7pm.  :1: :thumb:   Cool little place that has been around for ages!

Looks like a cool place , JJ. Is that considered a "T T" bar?     My Momma , once told me to stay away from such places, but needless to say... I didnt listen!
Rick.

Rick.

The former owner "Brad", was a big cafe racer and huge fan of the Isle of Man TT, so thus the name.

The current owner, "SKOOG" whom I met last night, is a big Harley fan, but loves and welcomes ALL motorcycles. :thumb:  :1:  Nice outdoor patio and a pool table also.

A place can't be a "dive" AND "infamous" unless there's a good chance you might have someone try to crack you over the head with a pool cue in the course of an evening.   :boxing:

Otherwise, it's just a nice place to hang out!  :thumb:

A great looking little bar, JJ!

You once (several years ago) suggested a bar where I should stop off on my way to Prescott.  Don't remember the name, but it was a good one!  We were heading into the mountains from the valley floor (Queen Creek.)

I Started going there in around 1993. Used to be known for the best punk rock juke box in town. I stopped going about 8 years ago when I moved away from Scottsdale and cut down on my drinking.

Fantastic bar. There's one door and one small window. The place used to get so full of smoke that you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.

It is definitely a little dive bar...and infamous because it is reportedly HAUNTED!!

It used to be called "Caddyshack" and the former owner, Brad, told me that he went through more than a few female bartenders who quit on the sport when glassed flew off the shelf for no reason at closing.

No doubt I was referring to the famous "Whiskey Row" on Main Street downtown.  There is "The Palace" , "The Bird Cage Saloon", and many other colorful places.... :thumb:  :1:

Yeahhh.. Haunted, I don't think so. Scooter ( don't know him") must be pulling your leg. I hung out there on and off for 15 years. It is the only bar in Scottsdale that I liked hanging out at. ( I bartended and lived in old town then)

A lot of us bartenders used to chuckle at all of the $30,000 dollar millionaires who'd go out on the prowl on Friday and Saturday nights looking to impress.

That was the best thing about The roadhouse. The staff didn't suffer fools and the douches stayed away.

Hi Turin - It was'nt Scooter, but the former owner "Brad" that told me that story about the place being haunted...but I will ask Scooter next time if he ever heard or seen anything funny!

Looks like a way cool bar.  I think they did a TV show about it being haunted.  Interview some of the staff who had weird things happen to them.
Either way looks like a cool place, next time I am in Scottsdale you will have to take me there JJ!
Oh and BTW I like Scottsdale, nice place, I enjoy it everytime I have been there...but it does get hot!

It is indeed...and if you get a chance, have dinner at The Mission (the one in Old town).  They did open up another Mission up in the Kierland Commons...food is great, just a different ambience.

For more fun, head to the Westin Kierland at sunset, and hear the Bagpiper play the pipes every day at dusk, including the favorite tunes everyone knows, truly one of the best places to enjoy a nice drink while overlooking a spectacular golf course.

Of course...for the golfers, Scottsdale is a paradise...too many courses to name...GreyHawk, Troon North, Kierland, Davis Mountain etc....simply spectacular golfing anywhere.

Hiking Pinnacle peak is also a great activity in Scottsdale off Dynamite/Alma School...great views from the top of the whole valley.

Another fantastic place to visit in Scottsdale is the Museum of Instrumental Music (MIM)...truly an amazing place...worthy of a full day.

Old Town Scottsdale also has a great museum...The Museum of the West...a couple of years ago they had an interesting exhibit of paintings featuring the Lewis & Clark expedition...really well done.

JJ...next time I'm in town, will have to have you down for a drink at the Kierland...

So there you go IT....plenty of reasons to visit Scottsdale if any of those activities appeal to you...otherwise...d etour around!  :)

QUOTE:  JJ...next time I'm in town, will have to have you down for a drink at the Kierland...

My old house (64th Street / Bell Road), was 5 minutes from Kierland Commons, so I know the area very well.

Now I am working in Chandler 4 nights a week, and drive back home to Vortex-Land on Fri. for the weekend, but next time you are in town Paul, just email me or call and I will meet you somewhere Mon.-Thurs. night.   :thumb:

Next time I go to the TT Roadhouse, I will ask the new owner "Scooter" and the other patron about any hauntings, etc.

Hi Tony! - Yes, I will take you there next time you are in Scottsdale!

Another Tuesday night at the TT Roadhouse in Scottsdale.  Good to see my motorcycle friends including:  Honda-Steve, Griso-Chris, Harley-Sam, Sailboat-Scott, and "Snowbird" John Ulrich from MN!

Also, I DID confirm with owner "SKOOG" that the place is indeed "HAUNTED" - dark apparitions, drawers opening, slurping sounds from glasses, chairs being pulled out, etc.  This goes back to the days when the place was called "Caddyshack."  Also, it was a farmhouse in the 1940's so who knows?
