Title: Rumor has it... Possible New Guzzi Dealer!
Post by: Guzzi Gal on March 26, 2018, 07:40:27 PM
So my husband's Vespa lost one of the rear calliper bolts whilst we were on a rather long ride yesterday.   Today I sourced one, picked up and installed it (thread locked) so would be good to go.  As I was chatting with the cool parts guy at GoAz, in Scottsdale, AZ. he asked me if I had other rides.  I told him six (missed out on the 7th this morning  ) and when he heard Motto Guzzi a big grin came across his face.  Apparently, the buzz in the staffroom is because RideNow booted Piaggio, and GoAz is a Piaggio (Vespa, Aprilia) dealer already, Moto Guzzi will be added when their big remodel is complete!

Rumor only, but as this is a HUGE multibrand dealership with an uber-wealthy owner, in a very affluent area, we could just get lucky.

I predict that uber- wealthy owner being just a wealthy owner before too long.

I heard that same rumor...from an internal employee anonymous source...we'll see if it really happens...   It would be a GOOD THING for the Valley of the Sun Guzzi community at large!! :1: :thumb:

!st thing they need to do is add a small fleet of cruisers, for rent. They could likely dilute the choking number of h-d's; turn a head or 2.  You know. Italian, Nice sounds. Good handling. Comfy. yada, yada - - - -  R3~

You've heard of Go-Daddy!  He also owns the worlds largest (square footage) HD dealership up the street.   :thumb:

I asked our local Honda-Suzuki-Aprilia shop, which has been in business for 50 years with Honda, 30 with Suzuki, and 6 with Piaggio and is continuing successful, selling lots of scooters and Aprilias of all types over a wide region, if they had considered adding Moto Guzzi to their line, since they were already hooked up with Piaggio.

In somewhat this order, they:

1) Made the sign of the cross and whipped out a braid of garlic

2) Laughed maniacally

3) Said "not only no but hell no"

4) Ordered me out of the shop and to never start a rumor like that which might ruin them.

Some of that (all but #2) is actually yet to come, but in summary they said that they are under no delusions about how Guzzi treats their dealers, that they've heard about all the same experiences that I have, that they know all 9 of the Virginia Moto Guzzi Dealers that have gone out of the Guzzi business in the last 15 years and why they did, and that the idea that they might take on Moto Guzzi is so remote that ... well, they really couldn't say ...

The deal here in OKC to establish a full house Piaggio store is coming along much more slowly that originally planned.   One of the delays concerned Piaggio changing financing from GE Credit to Wells Fargo.  The other is finding a location.

We just haven't made time yet to visit his "150,000 square foot dealership featuring a 48-seat movie theater, high-end tattoo/piercing studio, wedding chapel, selfie booth, customer lounge and free HD-themed arcade".

Whew, that's a mouthful! :thumb:

Location means everything for a new dealership.  I hope the moto deities intervene on their behave and an affordable prime location becomes available.

Good thought, price them out at the right rate to just cover costs (zero profit/zero loss), get bums on seats.

Former owner of Go Daddy must be looking for something else to do since selling.  He has a fleet of Ducati's at his multi-million $ house at Hualalai (Kailua Kona).  Heard he brings in his friends and mechanic to ride prep them.  Never ran into them while out on one of my Moto Guzzis but the property management firm owner is a friend of mine.  He's pretty reliable on "rumors" from that area.
