looks likei have some oil coming from the rh swing arm pivot pin nut/cap...
how can i check and or fix this? bike is 2003 ev11
-
Does this "oil" smell like your gearbox oil? There is a chance that the oil seal in the back of the box is allowing lube to escape in to the boot which covers the stubby, splined shaft and uni-joint(?). The boot could be leaking, the clamps could be loose. Is your gearbox down on oil?
-
Could also be the bearing grub screw under the bottom of the swingarm. Other than grease, there is no oil in the pivot pin or under its cap.

Blind hole I thought.

On the 2003’s and later the stub axles are hollow and the centre hole goes through to the UJ cavity. While i’ve not seen it myself I’ve heard of several cases where oil from the Bevelbox has migrated up the swing arm into the UJ cavity and then weeps out of the stub axle. It’s usuall associated with bikes that are either under-sprung or heavily loaded with a rearward bias as this encourages the oil to flow forward.

so is oil leaking from the cap and issue and how can i fix it?
-
Well the first thing is to find out where it’s coming from. If it is just oil coming forward from the bevelbox check the level and then find if the back of the bike’s suspension is so compressed by mr. and (?) mrs fatty’s weight that the swing arm is generally angled down at the front. If it is you can either a.) Loose some weight! Or b.) replace the springs or shocks with stronger/longer ones. Then, if you’re still getting a weep look further.
The other place it may be coming from is the gearbox. It may be the shaft o-ring, the output shaft nut may be a bit loose, the seal may be weepy or the cage of the crappy ATN9 bearing may of broken up and destroyed the seal. Only way to find that out is pull the swing arm.
Basically the way to fix it is find out what’s causing it and fix that! Problem is it could be any one of multiple causes!

Check your oil levels. That should give you a clue. Refill and check for leaks. Either way until you replace it, you'll have to live with the leak. You could use engine oil seal treatment to carry you till the repair.

I had this issue many years ago with my Metal Stone: http://morini.com.au/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2601 (http://morini.com.au/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2601)
I put a dab of silicon on the rubber bung to stop the leakage and took more care with my rear-drive servicing. It never became an issue again.

i put some sealant on the rh pivot pun cap and it looks like it did the trick... no oil after a 30 mile ride. thnx mackers

No offence intended, but you are not fixing anything.. just covering up the symptom.
-
I was considering saying something similar but last time I did that I copped about a page and a half of abuse so I’ve learnt my lesson and just shut up.

so what i get from the follow up posts is that under no circumstances should lube be coming from the hollow pivot pin?
-
That's correct. It's coming from "somewhere.." that it shouldn't. You have two choices, either the rear drive or transmission.
Pete's post here covers it..

if I were a betting man, I'd bet the seal may be weepy or the cage of the crappy ATN9 bearing may of broken up and destroyed the seal.

+1. I call it "turning up the radio to fix the rod knocking." Leaks come from somewhere, and they shouldn't.

My 2c
The most likely issue is overfull gearbox
The most likely result will be oil leaking from now overfull drive box
Test
Remove both level plugs, drain excess, top up if needed or change both fill with 750ml and 250ml
Ride it for a month
Remove both level plugs and report back
Then we all know the score
