I recently rescued an abandoned lemans 1000, I believe an '84. while its a project for another time I tried cleaning up one of the carbs, its the green/dark grey body ones (are they special?). any who, besides being completely clogged and gummed up everywhere, there is metal corrosion and deterioration on the bottom area of the air filter side (and some minor surface corrosion). the bottom threads are deteriorated along with the area by the 3 holes (not sure of their names). I can post pictures later. trying to figure out if they can be rebuilt and operated normally or if I need replacements

As long as the gas goes where it's supposed to, and doesn't go where it's not supposed to, they're good to go. The only beware is the slide and bore must be in good shape so they don't stick.
Use table salt in balsamic vinegar to clean the brass bits.
Use TSP in hot water to clean the bodies.

Well, I thought someone would answer. Since I have boxes of parts for those, and did lots of jetting changes on more bike than I can count I'll at least try.
I would try them out on a known bike that is good, in other words on similar LeMans or Cali. Jet them the same way as ones they are substituting and see how they work. You may have to build up what is missing by the holes, threads should make no difference if you are not screwing anything on to the back. If putting on K&N's the rubber may interfere w/holes like they are.
