He's a Junior Gentleman... and a twin not a single  My first boss grew up in rural Colorado in the 50s and had a Rumi when they were new. As the story went, based on their enthusiasm for the bike he and a partner decided to open a Moto Rumi dealership and start a racing program. He told me sales could be counted on the fingers of one hand, not using many of them
They apparently tried running their racer with open exhausts, and were surprised that it went slower. That led them to learn about expansion chambers and Walter Kaaden's MZs. Another story is that they decided to see how it would run with no piston rings, just as an experiment. He said it ran OK high rpm, but not at low rpm. He later became a somewhat famous engineer in his field, and 'out there' experimentation was par for the course. I'd ask him about Rumis again but he passed away a few years ago.

We have a SoCal rider who uses one of these in our Giro d'California event. All white. IIRC, it is 125cc, two stroke, parallel, flat twin. Quite a sporty machine.

I've only seen one Rumi in real life - that was at the Italia '90 (or '91?) Rally held in Jennerstown, PA. Very interesting little bike. On occasion one pops up on Craigslist nearby - total basketcase for some astounding amount of $$, so little interest from me.
