Title: Norge Windscreen Air Flow Adjustment
Post by: cappisj1 on May 04, 2018, 02:39:16 PM
Just an FYI. I recently purchases an '08 Norge. Love the bike. The windscreen was at a height, for the way that I sit on the bike, that bugs and rain would come off the top of the screen right at my eyes. The other night I cut some PVC pipe that fit over the top mounting post of the screen mounting rail. I made one for each side about 1/4 inch long each. I placed the spacers over each top mounting post and placed a washer next the same inside diameter to go over the post and outside diameter of the screens rubber grommet. There is maybe and 1/8 inch of the post showing now.  I replaced the screen. Used original hardware on the bottom. The two top mounts now have a pvc spacer, then a washer. Next is the screen and original rubber grommets in the holes, the plastic chrome "beauty" washer and now longer screws. This stood the screen up enough, for me, to make a rather large difference in the airflow over me and my wife has noticed a difference behind me also. Not a complete air bubble but out of my eyes and the forehead part of my helmet is not collecting bugs any longer.

Something to try as the cost was just a bit less then a taller windshield...

I will paint them black next time I take the screen off to clean the back side.

Clearview windshields has good prices on windshields and they make them for some guzzi models.

Any danger of pushing the button and raising it a bit..?

I have the Cali Sci mid sized screen and it is night and day better than the stock screen. I mostly ride with the helmet face shield up.

Interesting fix, defiantly worth trying. Absolutely loved the comment “ next time I remove the screen to clean the bugs off the back of it” My 07 Norge is the first bike I’ve owned where I’ve had to clean bugs off back side.  Does the fix decrease the back side bugs? As stock I haven’t found a way to do this without concern about stressing the screen, mounts or scratching the screen.
Thanks

Is your's the electric screen thing ?
If it is, you'll notice that the first little bit of movement in the "up" direction is actually a tilting forward motion that will do what you require.
