See the World-Famous Lake Erie sunsets, wineries, breweries, & distilleries, antiques, smoked fish, beach glass, pies, & of course the great riding....
Unfortunately we've lost our dealer support - Kustom Workz of Buffalo is now a Triumph dealer, & apparently Triumph doesn't play well with others - KW had to give up Guzzi & Aprilia as direct competitors to Triumph.... And another one bites the dust. But on the plus side, if you're having an issue with your Guzzi at the rally, there's always someone there that can help!
We'd love to see YOU there...
-
Interesting , our local dealer sells Triumph and Guzzi , haven't heard of this issue .

Right in my backyard-but I'll be working the Guzzi demo area at Amaricade. Have fun! Southern Tier Brewery is not to be missed. About 1/2 hour away.
-
I'm planning on attending again this year. It was a good rally last year, camping in the vineyards was fun, and I won a bottle of wine as a door prize. I'm going to find that winery this year for sure.
-
Always a fine rally! Looking forward to it. With all the laughing that goes on there, these should be the happiest grape vines on the planet.

Love this rally, but me and my brother with Stelvio and Stornello are doing cross country same time.
Dammit.

Time for a bump
June's comin' fast....

Marylou and I hope to arrive sometime Thursday. ML's driving the "tin tent", I'm bringing the 1400 Eldo. I've got a music commitment back home Sunday AM, so we'll be headed home Saturday after supper. Figured we'd kinda make up for early departure by arriving a day early.
-
Getting close now.

Long-range prognostication:
Highs - mid 70's
Lows - mid 50'5
Slight chance of a T-storm Saturday, otherwise clouds & sun Fri to Sun
Chance of a good time - 100%..... depending on the company we keep, of course.... ;^)
See y'all soon!
-
Circus tent is up, firewood is piled, sun is shining - all ready for ya!!
-
See you tomorrow
-
Had at least 2 dozen bikes in already last night (Thursday). Should be a good'un!

Got back early from Americade (LONG story) and went down early this am to see the gang and have coffee. As in the past several years, I gave a bunch of those nice Guzzi decals to Joe so he can distribute as he sees fit. Met several from here for the first time and reconnected with others. What a GREAT way to start Saturday!

Here's a few shots from the weekend, for anyone interested. Mostly the bikes, 'cuz I like the bikes.....

Just curious if you made it over to Barcelona Harbor? My Dad and brothers helped build the replica of the 16th century sailing vessel, the Sea Lion.
I was born and raised in Fredonia, lived in and worked for the Village of Westfield before moving to Florida in 1980. Still have friends and family in the area.

Barcelona is one of my favorite places on the lake (& it's a big lake....). We used to stop there for smoked fish when I was a kid, & still do. I often took my breaks at the pier when I was a Schwan's guy in Westfield.
I know the guy who did the forged ironwork for the Sea Lion. He has since retired due to health problems. Great project.
The Harbor is just a pleasant walk from the Rally grounds. It truly is a great area. And a small world...

I wish I had known the background of the Sea Lion before now. I couldn't help but notice it was missing. Google suggests it is on its way to a final destination in Virginia to be restored, with a stop in Albany, NY. I'm not sure where it presently is in its journey, but it sounds like there is a preservation group involved.
I'm curious, was it ever sea worthy? In all the years I have gone there, it has been grounded and without masts.
Kind of sad to see it gone, but good to know it will get some attention.

I did a little digging and found a video from 1988 of the Sea Lion sailing on nearby Chautauqua Lake. No doubt it is the same ship. At some point, it had to have been transported to the harbor on Lake Erie.

About 8 minutes long.

Zoom zoom and all, yes the Sea Lion was sea worthy and used on Chautauqua Lake originally when it was first commissioned. Unfortunately with the prevailing winds it could only sail down wind from Mayville towards Jamestown. The lake isn't wide enough for the ship to "tack " back upwind to port. This required a motor vessel to tow the ship back to port. Eventually expense over rode interest and the ship fell into disrepair. A group up in Buffalo adopted the ship and it was transferred to Buffalo Harbor. While there it sank either from intentional or weather related cause. It rested on the bottom for serial years until rescued once again by a group from Chautauqua County. It was raised, patched and towed the 50 some miles back to Barcelona where it sat dry docked on static display.
We would make it a point to stop by when we visited family up there, broke my heart to see it just sitting the languishing in the weather after all the hard work the volunteers put in to build it. Glad to see it being rescued once again.

Looks like I've been out of touch too long - glad to hear she'll be ship-shape again. Thanks for the update - I'll keep my ear to the ground & see if i can find out how she's coming along....
Thanks for the great pic's, too, Charlie!
