Bike was completely gone through in 2016 by the team at world famous CYCLE GARDEN in Huntington Beach over 20k spent on restoration (see video here https://youtu.be/s2sLDdFiDRI) , tank was left with original paint . Bike looks exactly as an original 1976 should . There is not a better one to be found anywhere , this is a rare opportunity to own a true piece of motorcycle history.
Uh huh....., except for the rear sets, the shock absorbers, seat, brake lines, competition exhaust, repop dash bezel, lower frame rails to frame bolts, steering damper missing, front fender is a repop - missing the holes for the brake cable guide and guides themselves, rotor lock tabs missing, rubber caps and plugs missing from frame and swing arm cap nuts, handle bars should be black .... OK I am counting rivets ... but if your gonna ask big $$$$ and make big claims I think its fair to do some fact checking.

Thanks for the keen eye Canuck, I'm the same way around classic cars at car shows. The devil's in the details. It would be a gas to accompany you at a bike auction sometime! Never too old to learn :thumb:

I have seen Mark I's with two styles of rear fenders. One like the eBay bike and others like below. I assume its a US vs Euro thing? What say Canuck750?

For $25K I'd want perfection, not rusty bolts holding the right rear set on or rusty gear change linkage.
Also starter solenoid plastic cover missing :rolleyes:

The ebay bike has the correct square taillight for a '76. One year only. '77 and later got the taillight in your pic. The '76 also had a seat unique to the year. The ebay bike has a similar shape but its not original. Orginal seats broke and fell apart in short order. Few if any still remain.
This is what my bike looked like when new. Its from the original flyer for that year.

Good info Pete! I was thinking it might be a year of production difference...
I should have bought a Lemans MKI 10 years ago when I was casually looking around. Although this one is over priced, it does seem as though prices have shot up in the last 10 years.
From casual observation it seems like MKI appreciation has outstripped the V7 Sport, but I have no data to back that up.

The Guzzi dealer in Buffalo,NY owned a V7 Sport exactly like the one you pictured. I was taken by the styling but my Norton was only a few years old and I was not in a position to own multiple bikes. I still think the V7 Sport is a better looking bike, more of a classic design. My '76 came along in '78 and I was able to save quite a few bucks getting it used.
It was so much different from my Norton and was disappointed at first at the lack of torque from the bigger twin. Took a while to appreciate the high speed qualities of the LeMans vs the Norton.

I have the same thought , but i would take a V7 sport over a le mans ( but that just my personal opinion )

Pedantic, but... there never was a 'Mk I'. It was just a Le Mans.

I think the 1st generation Le Mans have surpassed the value of a V7 Sport. I prefer the looks of the V7 Sport but having ridden both the Le Mans has more grunt and the disc brakes are far superior to the drums on a Sport. I don’t think Le Mans values are over $20K yet but they will get to $25K for a concourse bike in a couple years, it’s the Round Case Ducati factor driving up prices of other iconic Italian bikes.

I saw a new red one at Swider Motorcycles in Colchester in 1976. $3500 was the price. That was a lot of money for a motorcycle at that time. My Commando cafe racer was just fine for me then.

BTW there is the most awful example of the v7sport on eBay right now for an opening bid of $8k.

That V7 Sport on Ebay has been listed off and on for over a year now, the seller won't drop his price, it's worth half what he is asking to the guy willing to spend another $10K + to rebuild it. I think a lot of guys really don't want to sell their (fill in the blank) at any cost but it makes them or their wife feel better to appear that they are trying.
Here is a great example, this seller has been trying for over two years to sell his deceased fathers 1970 Nuovo Falcone 500 for $14,999.00, he is convinced its worth it, has an appraisal confirming his belief in the value, this despite many people offering about half that. The appraiser who knows nothing about bikes looked up Moto Guzzi Falcone and found $15K in great shape, can't explain to seller it is not a pre-69 Falcone, oh well, its going to keep being listed for many years to come.

Not intending to offend anyone here, but for that price I would expect to get 5 of that bike, all of them in that condition.
