Title: V7 iii Insert code?
Post by: Mike123456 on June 03, 2018, 09:44:28 AM
Hello all,

I have a beautiful V7 iii Stone with 1400km under its tires.

This morning the battery was dead. Short story is it started with no problem when connected to a battery pack BUT after riding for about 20 minutes, the battery is still not charged, indicators don't work, the red general warning light is on AND it has an "Insert Code" message with a 0-9 backward countdown looping on the display

Any insight is appreciated.

Mike

I'd give a call to one of the reputable dealers and ask what's up.  Whatever you do, I'd love to hear the answer as it may come in handy at some point.

I'll have a chance next week and will take it into the central workshop if I haven't solved it before then. Regardless, I'll post updates here...

I couldn't find anything in the service station manual.  Perhaps it's asking for a key code?

While not having seen this dashboard set up I imagine it’s asking for your user code. Did you insert one on purchase? If not you need to find out what the shop set it to.

Sounds like the key antenna is disconnected or on the blink.

I would first get a new battery, it may all go back to normal.

Check to see if it’s charging first. Should be about 14V @ 3,500 rpm at a guess. If the voltage doesn’t change from what it is at idle or goes down as the revs rise the reg/rev or alternator may be toast. It’s almost a new bike after all. It shouldn’t be needing a new battery or behaving weirdly!
