Saw that. Sad day... if ever there was proof that animals are more than just "dumb beasts".

Growing up on a farm, I spent plenty of time with animals. Short course, most are  alot more intelligent than people give them credit for. Currently own a dog that knows who her favorite human is, and, sadly, I happen to be owned by a cat who also has deemed me to be her favorite human. Watching those two fight over my attention is interesting to say the least.

If you really want to be sad, watch some of the videos of Koko playing with Robin Williams.

That gorilla was amazing.

If it were only that simple, and it would be if it weren't for mankind, who cut off their hands and heads in the name of money.
Rent/borrow a video about Dian Fossey
Animals don't wake up with evil on their minds, people do

Yeah, me too.  "Dumb" animals? Not really.. some are smarter than others, though.

I'm sure you know better than most, animals have every emotion that people do.
How they recognize you, trust those that they know, and have shown them they CAN be trusted.
How they can be depressed over loss of a friend, happy when they see you are happy.
I've never regretted a moment I've spent with my 4 legged friends (sometimes only 3 )
I can't say the same for some people I've known though
